Geekdown Podcast

So Jordan got a PS4, which means nothing to most of you who consider yourselves gamers, but is a serious deal for him. He is filled with joy, and he chooses to share that joy with Cait and y'all.

So there's a lot of video game talk and chit chat, but we also talk about the week in milkshake ducks (1:04:20), the death of Univeral's Dark Universe (1:11:07), and the return of Black Mirror (1:13:33) before settling into a conversation about the new Netflix Western 'Godless' (1:26:24). Did it meet Caitlin's approval? Answers await.

Here at the Geekdown, we consume a lot of media. Sometimes, we really like what we've consumed, and would love to spend more time with it, but that content train never stops, and each week brings something new to check out.

Because of that, sometimes we like to take a breath, step out of format, and revisit some of those things we liked, to see if they still hold up to our initial impressions. This is one of those weeks.

Also this ep! Caitlin recovers, Jordan has many decisions to make, all the updates and good time hangs with your new BFFs in the typical Geekdown fashion.

It's Halloween and Mike, El, Hopper and the rest are back, so Cait and Jord dug into Stranger Things 2, now on Netflix. Do remember that this pod has two rules and a policy, so if you're behind on your viewing, you might get some things spoiled for you if you haven't seen up to episode 3 at least. Listener discretion and all that.

Also this ep, Jordan's hometown adventures and his self-reckoning, Caitlin doubles her glamour quotient, Zachary Levi is Pratting, and updates on all the things we checked out during our week off.

We're out of time this week so Jordan could go gallivanting in the homeland this week, but you know our takes are so hot they can stay fresh for a week or more. Since it was Jordan's birthday week, we're looking at things as old as him! 1982's Conan the Barbarian and 1978's Bruce Lee cash grab Game of Death. Both films are objectively bad, but were they bad meaning bad or bad meaning good? Answers await.

Also this ep, gems Jordan's gleaned from his decades on this earth, miso soup-related mishaps and general stupidity in the celebrated Geekdown fashion.

The Geekdown Book Club is back in effect! Remembering we know how to read, Jord and Cait look at the Nebula Award winning novel from Charlie Jane Anders 'All the Birds in the Sky' and the celebrated if not uncomplicated fantasy romp Rat Queens. Also this ep! Jordan's birthday week commences, we eulogize Geekdown hero Grape-kun the penguin, trailer rundowns and updates on all the things we've been watching from Blade Runner to Made in Abyss to another batch of anime premieres. Plus juvenile double entendres, maybe not from who you'd expect.

Space. They say it's a sort of frontier. So we're going there this week, looking at the interstellar epic The Expanse and the meditative film from Studio Gainax, 1987's 'Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise.' Two stories in similar genre, were they equally loved? We shall see.

Also this week! Sexism is winning the week, Marvel has a terrible NYCC, Fall anime is here, Jordan's had it with the kids (again) and all the chit chat and updates you can handle. Thanks for hanging, y'all!
