  • Holy sh*t Hans Crippleton : Talk to the Hans! - Geekline415
Hans Crippleton made us stop and think: Have you ever seen one of those movies where you actually think to yourself “Holy Sh*t!”.  We think everyone certainly has at one time or another.  Remember seeing RoboCop for the first time and the guy gets melted by toxic waste?  Definitely one of those holy sh*t moments.  Hans Crippleton has quite a few of those moments.  As a viewer you might be left wondering if you should vomit, laugh, or rewind it to make sure you actually saw what you just think you did!

Tonight we are joined by Jimmy Lee Combs and surprise special guest Kevon Ward, director and creator (respectively) of the new movie Hans Crippleton: Talk to the Hans!  We got the chance to talk to Kevon and Jimmy about Hans Crippleton and get some insight into their fun and sometimes disturbing thoughts behind movies that may have influenced them with a holy sh*t moment.  We can actually see how some of it turned out and found its way into the movie.

Who is this Hans Crippleton character?
As we learned during the show, Hans Crippleton is actually the creation of Kevon Ward himself.  Hans is a character that Kevon created over time while playing a role at haunted houses in his home state of Colorado.   Hans’ celebrity in the movie isn’t really that far removed from reality.  Kevon refined the character over time, and Hans is something of a staple around the Colorado horror scene.  Kevon has done a seriously bang up job bringing this country bumpkin to life in our opinion.
You can find out more about Hans Crippleton at the movie website at: http://www.hanscrippletonmovie.com/ or read DungeonMaster’s review of the movie below.

Hans Crippleton has what might be some of the best cover art ever.  Yet another hidden talent of Kevon Ward’s.

Here is DungeonMaster’s review for IMDB:

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

Hans Crippleton, in this viewers opinion, is the logical extreme of any “reality” TV show. It is no more silly than Ghost Hunter and the Real Wives of Wherever rolled into one. We as the viewers are essentially treated to an episode of Horror Hunts with Barnaby Hunt, played by Andy Hankins. The “show” follows the life of Hans Crippleton, played disturbingly well by Kevon Ward, and his inbred family and their lives living on a rundown farm.
We are immediately greeted with a seriously “holy Toledo!” moment near the beginning of the film when learn of Hans’ birth in a dirt field as his mother is being chased by zombies. Hans is dragged through a field by his umbilical cord. This scene immediately let’s us know exactly why Hans is the way he is and what kind of movie this is going to be.
The Crippleton’s are essentially the Kardashians of hilly billy, inbred zombie killers and Hans is the Kim of the family. He is the celeb among celebs of their community.
On a much deeper level, this movie pokes fun at the cliques in the film and acting community. Celebrity and its micro-chasms. Hans makes a “living” attending Horror Conventions, where he is regarded as one of the celebs. Even the entire inbred Southerner theme is actually more of an allegory for the incestuous relationships that ...

  • Sharknado: Heart of Sharkness with Jared Cohn - Geekline415

Ever wonder what REALLY happened with the original film for Sharkando?  Before it was suppressed by the studio?  Well now you can find out with the “Documentary” (Mockumentary) Sharknado Heart of Sharkness!
The geeks were joined by Jared Cohn who stars in the new flick from The Asylum.  Jared plays David Moore, the man who originally came up with “Sharks in a Tornado”.  Sharknado Heart of Sharkness follows around the cast and crew, splicing in interviews with the original cast, footage that has yet to be seen, and weaves together the story of exactly what happened during the fateful filming of the first Sharknado.  As the poster bills it “The story they didn’t want told”.  After seeing the movie, we can tell you, this is a story that MUST be told!

The geeks talk with Jared about his role in the new release, as well as each taking a shot at some of the “super fan” questions presented as part of a contest a few months ago.  You get a chance to hear exactly what city Jared would like to see wiped out by a Sharknado, as well as who they’d like to get eaten (Steven Seagal anyone?) and many other fun Sharknado references.  If you lost your hand in a Sharknado, what would you replace it with?
There were a few fan questions that got covered and we get learn a lot about what Jared has on his plate coming up.  Jared has a ton of projects in the works many of which you can find here on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1714788/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 but you’ll have to listen to find out about the super secret projects.
Where can you find Sharknado Heart of Sharkness?
You can check out the trailer to Sharknado Heart of Sharkness right here and pick it up for only $3.99 (That’s a lot of entertainment for four bucks!):

  • Sol: Last Days of a Star and great game story lines - Geekline415

Ever had a game that the story line just hooks you?  This is exactly how we felt when we heard the concept behind Sol: Last Days of a Star as pitched to us by Ryan and Jodi of Elephant Laboratories.  The story, ironically dark, is that the sun of the solar system is dying.  In fact, the sun could go nova any minute, wiping out the races that inhabit the different planets in the system.  Your job is a last ditch effort to harvest the energy of the sun.  You will transmit the energy back to the “Arks” that will be shipping off the remains of your race to start anew elsewhere.
Essentially players race around the sun, harvesting resources, and bumping each other out of the way to give their race the better chance of survival.  The game adjusts well to different styles of play.  The fake geek style of “cooperative” can be played and inserted just as easily as the real geek style of kicking your compatriot down the ladder on the last helicopter out of Saigon.
Why we loved Sol: Last Days of a Star?
As lucky geeks, we have the chance to play a lot of games when they are still in the prototype phase.  Video games, RPGs, and board games alike, we take no prisoners.  While we try to be gentle on the creators as we have deep respect for their craft, we are not so gentle on each other
