Geeks Unleashed

Easily one of the most influential Batman stories of all time, we tackle Batman: The Killing Joke with our regular co-host Stephen Fox. From the legacy of this story, to the modern context, and even a comparison to the 2016 animated feature, we all had strong reactions to this book.

This week, we're joined by Erin who is one half of the Girls Talk Comics podcast! First we chat it up about who would win a brawl between Black Widow and Huntress. Next, we talk about some of the odd Emmy Nominations that dropped this week including all of the Marvel nods. Then we put Erin on the hot seat so we can get to know more about her and the Girls Talk Comics podcast! Finally, we go all in on Black Widow, which is the 24th MCU film and the first film of phase 4. From the way the film talks about women, to where it fits into the overall MCU, and we break down the good, bad, and ugly of the characters.

Stephen's back this week as we strip the episode down to a bit of news and then we really sink our teeth into the first 12 issues of Sweet Tooth before the Netflix adaptation drops.

We've got a fun show this week kicking off with news like Danai Gurira returning to Wakanda for Disney + series; the Eternals trailer drop; Kraven the Hunter getting a solo film; and The Book of Boba Fett gets a Disney + release date! Then we move on to our reviews of Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead and this month's Pilot Season review of Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba).

We are joined once again by Deborah Taylor, a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the American Library Association as we digest the graphic memoir of actor and activist George Takei's They Called Us Enemy. We can't help but make comparisons to our previous Maus and March episodes as we read through Takei's account of living in Japanese internment camps in the 1940s. Please join us as we experience this journey through the eyes of a child.
