This week we are spanning all of history and seeing how governments at different points in time dealt with their worst criminals. A lot of early executions focused on the spectacle of a public execution to show the state's power, but there are still plenty of places today that put people to death as a government institution. We discuss how the transition from ancient death sentences transitioned through the medieval times and into the modern day to give a picture of where the practice started and has gotten to where it is now.

For the 4th of July, we decided to cover an American milestone - the moon landing. During the Cold War, there was a lot of focus put on both the Soviet Union and the United States to be the first country to put a man into space and eventually on the moon. The United States eventually won, but they recruited help from an unlikely place, the Nazis.

We return to the world of ghosts this week with one of the most well documented cases of paranormal activity in the past century. The Enfield Poltergeist was chosen as the basis for the sequel to one of the most popular modern horror movies, the Conjuring. With hours of recordings of supposed paranormal happenings, it's an interesting case from both sides of the belief coin. We do our best to present the facts as they have been documented and leave it up to you to decide where you stand.

We are heading back to the UK for this episode, highlighting a Scottish freedom fighting hero. William Wallace came from nothing and became the Guardian of Scotland by the middle of the war for Scottish independence. While he wasn't necessarily the real Braveheart, he was a very important figure in the fight against the English.

This week we discuss a character in England's history known as Uhtred the Bold. The Netflix show "The Last Kingdom" has a character based on this real life figure of history and we discuss some of the parallels between the two as well as some of their differences. Along the way we also sum up like 1900 years of history in England so, I hope we got that right.

This week we are taking a trip back to the old west! The boys take a dive into the world of the Oregon trail and its beginnings and begin the tale of the ill-fated Donner Party which is one of the most infamous stories of westward travel in American history.
