I visited one of Europe's largest vintage aircraft meeting, the Oldtimertreffen Hahnweide at Kirchheim unter Teck near Stuttgart.

I was there on Friday, when most participating aircraft arrived, so we could even see those fly which were only on static display for the rest of the meeting.

Landing the Evektor SportStar MAX in Oerlinghausen EDLO. First part is landing on 22, second is landing on 04, where you can see the twisting motion on the throttle to bring the Rotax 912 all the way to idle. As you can see, it can be landed using only half of the 800 m runway without even trying.

As far as I can tell, this C172 approached way too fast, and then flared too high, leading to a bounce. The pilot then initiated a go-around, but made the mistake of retracting the flaps all at once, which lead to another loss of height with a second touchdown. Thanks to the long runway they made it out in one piece, but this is a good example why go-arounds should be practiced.

I'm not familiar with that variant of the C172, is it perhaps like some C150 where the flap switch latches in the "retract" position, so if you push it up, it retracts the flaps completely unless you manually move the switch back to neutral? My instructor explicitly trained that and warned me of precisly the situation we are seeing here. A go-around with the flaps retracting too fast.
