A Tweet making this very warning went viral, prompting responses from users on what they do when they're approached on the street.

新加坡法律和内政部长尚穆根（K. Shanmugam）在脸书上说，虽然新加坡政府正在考慮重新检讨将同性性行为入罪的『刑事法典』377A，但是新加坡也坚持保护现有的婚姻制度和其定义。 过去多年来曾有 LGBTQ 维权团体多次试图推翻被称禁止男性性行为的刑事法典 377A，但是都因遭到宗教团体的抵制大多以失败告终。

新加坡 LGBTQ 族群和宗教团体似乎试着去妥协并且达成部分共识，宗教团体愿意退一步不反对推翻殖民时期留下来的「老旧」法案，而 LGBTQ 团体也不推动同性婚姻合法化。新加坡天主教会表示，教会尊重 LGBTQ 族群的维护权益，但要求同志团体必须要尊重传统婚姻制度和定义，那就是婚姻只限一男一女、一夫一妻。
