The pandemic has resulted in many of us pressing the pause button on in-person social interactions, which has become more difficult as the pandemic drags on. While we try to find other ways to cope, it’s not as straightforward for people with dementia, as social interactions are important in helping them retain memories and slowing down their cognitive decline. Consultant geriatrician Prof Dr Tan Maw Pin joins us to share whether the pandemic is causing dementia patients to deteriorate, and how caregivers can cope during these difficult times.

Social enterprise Hara Makers have been working towards reducing plastic pollution, and started the Reimagine Plastic Project as a way of working towards that. The initiative is also a community and income-generating project for the economically disadvantaged, by providing them with vocational skills in recycling and upcycling of plastic waste. They have successfully fused plastic bags and plastic packaging into fabric, and even melted harder plastics such as bread tags into flower pots, coasters and bowls. Transparency International-Malaysia (TI-M) has said that it welcomes the asset declarations from members of the government via a public portal hosted by the MACC, but notes that several deputy ministers were missing from the list. Transparency International Malaysia also notes that even those that have declared their assets, did not provide a detailed breakdown of their income.
But why is it important for politicians, particularly ministers to declare their assets in the first place and what are the long term solutions to the problem? Dr Muhammad Mohan, President of Transparency International Malaysia, joins us to share his thoughts.

Eighty-one percent of employees believe AI improves their overall performance at work. As a result, more than two-thirds (68%) are calling on their employers to deploy more AI-based technologies to help them execute tasks. That’s the top-level finding from a study published today by 3GEM on behalf of SnapLogic, which surveyed 400 office workers across the U.S. and U.K. about their opinions on AI in the workplace.
