Generation Justice

We kick off our 2015 Best of Generation Justice Series! We dedicate the show to amazing youth that organize to create change in our community. Youth-led action this year manifested itself in several ways - whether it was developing irrigation systems, walking-out of standardized tests, or testifying to legislators. To hear all about it, tune in at 7 p.m. on KUNM 89.9 FM or online at KUNM.org

This year we have seen an upswell of student activism on college campuses across the country calling out institutional racism that continues to underlie educational settings. This program features student organizers and activists from around the country: Occidental College, the University of New Mexico, and Ithaca College.

Our GJ family will be exploring the power of language. From our weekly music selection, to hand-picked poems, you won’t want to miss it! We will be honoring the life of John Trudell. We’ll also be featuring what local activists are using to combat Islamophobia - the power of love letters and solidarity

Hey there!! Tune in for a wrap up of some great events that are happening throughout the rest of 2015! You don't want to miss all the excitement happening locally!

Activism can be expressed through research, film, education, law, and many other facets of society. We’re going to share knowledge from Dr. Geni Eng and Dr. Jennifer Schaal about how their research is working to undo racism in the medical system that’s causing disparities in cancer patients. We’re also going to learn from some powerful women that spoke at the MALCS Plenary “Working in Solidarity & Across Intersections of Identity” who are all working to create solidarity through different organizations!

It’s November! Join us as we dedicate the show to sharing important events happening in our community! Whether it’s art, music, or food - we’ll be highlighting the hard work that our local organizers put into making New Mexico thrive!
