Generation Red: A Husker Podcast

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I recap today's disappointing, and weird offensive performance by the Huskers in their 20-13 loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

We'll look at the final stats, pick our Game Breaker and Game Wrecker of the week, and bring the 1-10 ratings scales for the O, D, and ST. The Fool's Gold that was the 1st Quarter, in which it looked like Anthony Grant might go for 200 yards on the day, quickly turned into the same old, same old. Throw, throw, throw. Miss, miss, miss. And the wrong QB was likely playing for most of it. Ya just gotta love Whipple Ball, right?

After that, we'll pick next week's Michigan game and call it a show. Ugh. This one hurts folks. It truly hurts.

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I look forward to the Minnesota game this Saturday at 11AM in Memorial Stadium. ESPN2 has the honors to completely sh** on the Huskers for 4 quarters this time, and Scott and I kind of did the same thing for 35 minutes.

We look at the stat comparisons between the two squads so far for the 2022 season, give our keys to victory for the Big Red, and then finish up with a couple score predictions that might make most of the Husker faithful who listen to us (all 5 dozen of you) unsubsribe. But we don't care. Mickey Joseph was left with a total sh**-burger, and we are all slowly eating it, bite by bite until our misery ends in Iowa City.

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott is out sick, so while he rests up and gets better for next week’s show, I am joined tonight by Justin from the Husker Cuz Cast and Andrew from Big Red & More. We’ll open things up by getting to know Andrew a little and find out more about his podcast, and then we’ll catch up with Justin and find out what hijinks he and the cousins have been up to.

Then we will take a look at Saturday’s tussle with Illinois at Memorial Stadium, including a discussion about both teams’ stats for the season so far, share some keys to victory, and then predict the score. Man, that Illinois defense is awfully good, so it will be an awfully tall task for the Huskers to win, namely because the offensive line has shown no signs of improvement since kicking off this crazy season in Ireland back in August.

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are joined once again by Dustin Schutte, a content creator at Outsider.com, and a recent co-host addition to the Eyes on B1G Podcast. We'll chat with Dustin about his latest exploits for Outsider, his triumphant return to Twitter, and try to get some inside skinny on Jeffrey the Greek.

WARNING: He's also a Purdue fan...but that's ok because we like him anyway.

Then we will talk about that crazy madcap game in West Lafayette that saw Purdue decimate the Huskers in nearly every single statistical category...and yet they won by only 6 points. Hopefully Dustin can give us some insight as to how that happened, other than the otherworldly play of a guy in a white #3 jersey, and the tough hombre in #11 who withstood another beating to get him the rock on a regular basis. Here's a mind-scrambler: The Husker offense possessed the football for a total of about 5 minutes in the 2nd half...and they dropped 24 points on the Purdue defense.

WTF???

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, we breakdown the big win in Piscataway, NJ on Friday night and what it means going forward. Two conference wins in a row for the first time since 2018, and the first road win in the B1G since 2020 when the Huskers beat...you guessed it...Rutgers.

Then we look back at the crazy ups and downs that were the Indiana game. NU pulled out a very hard-earned 35-21 win, and is looking to reach a .500 record during their trip to Piscataway, NJ next Friday night. We will preview that contest against Rutgers and all the other fun stuff you've come to know us for.

Except for Plus-Minus. It's too much work. And we kinda forgot the last few weeks.

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I recap the Mashing in Memorial, AKA the OU game. As a result, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander was handed his walking papers. It is unprecedented to lose to major coaches on one staff, mid-season. First Frost, and now his right hand man. This tells me that interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph ain't playin' around.

We take a look at the cumulative stats that contributed to Chinander's demise, and then look forward to the rest of 2022 and beyond. Including a discussion about a certain coach, whom if hired, might divide this fanbase even further...including the hosts of this podcast. Would be entertaining though. Lol.

But before we get into the game and the future of Husker football, we take a nostalgic trip into the past as we talk with filmmaker Justin LePara, the director of Day by Day, a Husker documentary that debuted Part 1 in May of this year. Justin has plenty of stories to share, and hopefully we will also get some insight as to when the first part will be available to stream and/or download.

Then, we will focus on Part 2, in which former head coach Scott Frost plays an integral role. It will be interesting to hear Justin's insight into the final cut process after the dismissal of such a major player in those last three years of Husker domination.
