Tesla & Google Waymo both are making progress in autonomous driving technology rapidly. But interestingly they use very different approaches on how to solve the problem of computer vision and decision making. One might even say, it's the opposite.
So, let's take a closer look on these technologies. Is LiDAR actually the 'wrong' approach or did we dismiss it too early. And are neural networks able to interpret and infer the messing system that humans created and call it infrastructure?
