Today we wrap up our discussion of our March book, Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles. We loved rediscovering this classic text and spent two full episodes diving in. The themes in this novel still resonate today and Hardy was ahead of the curve in his understanding of the plight of women. We also announce our April book which we are so excited about -- it is a big departure from Tess! And of course, our usual banter and life updates - join us!

Today Sophie and I begin discussing our February and March book, Tess of the D'Urberville's by Thomas Hardy. This was a re-read for both of us and we were surprised at how relevant it still felt -- some themes will always resonate. There are no end of novel spoilers here - we only talked about the first 3 phases (about half the book) and will finish up at the end of March.
We also continue with our regular segments! It was so fun to get academic about this infamous text - join us!

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Joanna Biggs, the author of our January book, A Life of One's Own: Nine Women Writers Begin Again. Sophie and I connected with this special book on so many levels and to have the opportunity to talk with Joanna brought our reading full circle.
Joanna shares her inspiration for this project, why she chose the authors she featured, and her hopes for how this work might inspire other women. We also heard how the cover art was chosen and it was such a poignant part of our discussion!
We were very taken with both this book and its author - we think you will be too. Join us!

Today we have a special guest! As most of you know, we welcomed a baby to the family two months ago! Our oldest daughter and her husband brought Adeline Mae into the world and we've all been soaking up all the love and joy that accompanies life with a newborn.
As we are a podcast dedicated to the Generations, and we just added one, we thought we’d talk with Olivia and hear her thoughts and early reflections about this very special time of life.
Join us for a candid conversation about the decision to have a child, the highs and lows of pregnancy and postpartum, and how perception matches reality. We will even talk about how reading fits into a new mother's world - and it does!
Also, don't miss the announcement of our February/March book - classics lovers where are you?

Wow, how are we at the point of making "top of" lists?!! This year has both been a whirlwind, and dragged its feet on the way out. But, it certainly was unprecedented when it comes to reading. Last year, my top 10 included backlist because I just didn't find 10, 2022 books that I loved. This year was totally different and they keep coming!
Join Deb for a look back at this year in books and see what made the list! You might be shocked...
