GenErik

Now this is a mix I've been looking forward to for a while. Dastardly Kuts @dastardlyd , headline DJ, ghetto funk and disco handler extraordinaire has made an exclusive mix just for us. And what a mix it is! More booty shaking disco funky ghetto tracks you would be dead inside not to dance down the streets to.

I recently had the chance to catch this cat live, warming up for A.Skillz and Featurecast (two of my other favourites)and I had an absolute blast. You can catch that set here: Dastardlyd – Askillz-featurecast-support-set-live-zuri-bar-brisbane

But let's get to the meat of this mix, pipping me at the post for mixing some of my favourite tracks at the moment before me(drat, drat and double drat!). Get ready to shake it to:

The world burns, but at least we have music. A quick, unplanned set from me this week, with some fantastic tracks nonetheless. Highlight for me is my hometown buddy's remix of Norway's finest vocalists of all time: Sivert Høyem. Combining that with a tropical vibe and there was no way I was not going to fall in love with that track.

This is a 100% studio mix that took months to plan and complete. It contains some of my very favourite disco, funk, hip-hop and groovy tunes. Even a mashup or two of my own.

And if you have heard this before, it has of course been remastered, the Funky Heroes mashup has been replaced with a newer edit and other niceties spread within. Enjoy or re-enjoy.

Dedicated to my dad who wrote the song "Diskotek Revolution" after which this mix is named.

Something different this week: TECHNO! Yes, I know, shockingly this podcast took until it's tenth episode to have something else than tropical, disco or ghetto funk even though we are a genre-agnostic show. Those just happen to be the genres we vibe to the most. That doesn't mean we'll delve into aggressive drop based EDM/trap/dubstep club music any time soon however. I am sure you can get your fill of that just about anywhere.

Enjoy this deep set from a long time Kiwi (now UK) DJ friend of mine: DJ Forge @dj-forge ! And hey, even if techno isn't your cup of tea, do stick around for Bumpey anyway, it's a bopping swinging number that transcends any genre.

I've been itching to get this out to you! Some of these are so fresh they literally came out this week. Some of my current favourite remixes here. I'm coming for your summer Northern Hemisphere!

This is a distillation of everything I am currently vibing on with tropical house: Mozambo, Kungs, JackLNDN, Thomas Jack. Kygo is conspicuously missing, but only because I've pretty much mixed every of his tracks previously.

But to make up for it, how good is that Slaptop track? It's what I imagine Daft Punk would do for tropical house. If you like this mix, you'll probably like my FOUR (!) other tropical house mixes, made before I started this podcast. I might feature them later on if I run out of material, but you can catch the rays here: soundcloud.com/generikmashups/sets/pulau-vibes-5-1-4-hr-tropical
