It’s so meaningless.That is not God’s view of us. God deliberately and thoughtfully made us. Not only that, but he made us to somehow reflect who he is. God is the creator of the heavens and the earth, ruling it, holding it all together, loving it. And he made us to join him in ruling over all the other creatures. We are not just slightly more intelligent animals, we have a unique dignity and purpose in this world, given to us by God. It is an honour given to both men and women.I teach scripture at one of our local primary schools, and every Monday afternoon one of the students interrupts my class to go outside to take down the flags. It’s only a small job, but they are so excited to be given that responsibility and they do it with such dutiful care and enthusiasm. I wonder if we always remember what an honour it is serve God as his representatives here on earth. Do we have the same joy and excitement as those kids for the responsibility we’ve been given? How incredible that God, who created everything, would include us in his plans for looking after the world. What an honour! But that also comes with great responsibility.Let’s praise and thank God for the responsibility he’s given us and let’s ask God to teach us how to serve him and fulfil his plans for us in this world.QUESTIONGod made people as his most special creation.
