In Genesis 3, the serpent tempts Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, telling her she won't die but will gain knowledge. She eats and shares with Adam. They realize their nakedness, feel shame, and hide from God. God questions them, and they blame each other and the serpent. God curses the serpent, Eve, and Adam for disobeying. He clothes them and banishes them from Eden, placing cherubim and a flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life.
