In Genesis 3, the serpent tempts Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, telling her she won't die but will gain knowledge. She eats and shares with Adam. They realize their nakedness, feel shame, and hide from God. God questions them, and they blame each other and the serpent. God curses the serpent, Eve, and Adam for disobeying. He clothes them and banishes them from Eden, placing cherubim and a flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life.

Genesis 2:4-25 narrates the creation of the heavens, the earth, and humanity according to the LORD God. It describes the formation of man from the dust of the ground, the planting of the Garden of Eden, the creation of trees, rivers, and animals. Adam is tasked with naming the animals but finds no suitable companion. God then creates woman from one of Adam's ribs, and they become one flesh. They live naked in the garden without shame.

Genesis 1:1-31 recounts the creation story, where God creates the heavens, the earth, light, the firmament, seas, vegetation, celestial bodies, sea creatures, birds, land animals, and finally humans, in six days, declaring each creation "good" and resting on the seventh day.
