Genesis Church - Carmel

We gathered as one church outdoors at the Carmel campus, and Lead Pastor Paul Mumaw shared a message about Grace from Acts 15, as we continue our series called "Sent".

In Acts 14, we see Paul and Barnabas finish up a long, fruitful missionary journey. But instead of going home, we are told they went back to Antioch and "spent lots of time with the believers there." What can we learn from this passage, and how can we use it to help us use our time to intentionally invest in others?

Time and time again throughout the book of Acts we have seen how God uses ordinary people to take the message of Jesus to familiar places.  Where are the familiar places the Holy Spirit is leading you to have an influence for Jesus?

From school to work to relationships to kids to finances, life is hard. But then there are those problems that come flying into our lives from out of nowhere and make life all the more overwhelming. Do you feel stuck with nothing left to give? Waiting on God for a miracle? The good news is that God has what we need and prayer is a gift given to us to help us through.

The bad news is that sin means we've all missed the mark. Death is what we deserve. The good news is that God sent Jesus as a remedy, a solution to the problem of sin and death. His death and life means that God offers something better. Trusting Jesus with every part of our lives means that death is defeated and that we are alive in Jesus Christ.

There is an “us vs. them” mentality that has been tearing our world apart for centuries. It allows petty things like politics, economic, social status, age, and even skin color to draw hurtful boundaries between people. In Acts 11 we find an anonymous group of believers who show us what happens when the Church leads the way in shattering the us vs. them barrier.

Dan Towle, groups and outreach pastor, continues our Sent series in the Book of Acts. In chapter 10, Peter receives a vision from the Lord that changes the way the world sees the Gospel.

In Acts 9 we meet a man named Saul. He was violently opposed to the idea of the resurrection of Jesus and the thought that He could be God’s promised Messiah. All that changed when he met the resurrected Jesus face to face. Just like Saul, we are all dead in our sins but Jesus came to rescue us from our sins and to give us a new life that can only be found in Him.

God wants everyone to put their faith in Jesus and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, but it’s also God’s desire that you and I will be filled and empowered and directed by the Holy Spirit each day. There's no better way to live.
