The classical Gnostics certainly took a lot from Judaism at the beginning of its development. From the re-imagining of the Jewish creation story to ritual practices, Gnosticism owes a great debt to Judaism. However, there is also a legacy of antisemitism in Gnosticism and Christianity in general which we can’t ignore. We talk about the demiurge, the remixing of Jewish scripture, as well as kabbalah, merkabah, and the ascent practices that we share in common.
