This Goes Out To You - Episode 18
The World Is Loud. You Don't Have to Be.
This one goes out to you.
In a world that's getting louder by the day, sometimes the most important thing we can do is turn down the noise and listen to ourselves.
In this very personal episode of GenX Gon Give It To Ya, Deshanta takes a break from the music, movies, television, and memories of growing up GenX to talk about something happening right now—the constant noise competing for our attention, our emotions, and our energy.
This isn't a political episode. It's not about choosing sides or arguing over who's right and who's wrong.
It's about you.
Deshanta talks about her decades-long spiritual journey, her development as a medium, and some extraordinary experiences that challenged her understanding of consciousness—including an unforgettable encounter in a cemetery and a remarkable mediumship experience connected to the Rensselaer Boat Launch.
She explores intuition and the different ways people may experience it, including the clairs: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, and more.
But ultimately, this episode isn't about proving anything.
It's about learning to listen.
When we're constantly consuming fear, anger, opinions, and information, it's easy to become disconnected from ourselves. Deshanta talks about the difference between being informed and being consumed, and why you can care about what's happening in the world without carrying the weight of the entire world on your shoulders.
She also takes a different look at the idea of “waking up.” Rather than focusing on conspiracy theories or secret forces, Deshanta considers waking up to be the process of recognizing the conditioning, expectations, and limitations we've accepted about who we're supposed to be.
Maybe waking up is simply realizing:
“Wait a minute... I don't have to live according to somebody else's programming.”
And if you're listening to this thinking you've spent your whole life being one way, Deshanta has a message for you:
You're still here. Your story isn't finished.
You can change your mind.
You can change direction.
You can start something new.
You can begin again.
Through her other creative project, Sick Like Mines, Deshanta also draws a connection between the incredible diversity of nature and the diversity of human beings.
A wolf doesn't have to be a dragonfly.
A snake doesn't have to be a crow.
A dart frog doesn't have to be an anglerfish.
They each have their own place, their own purpose, and their own expression.
Maybe we're not so different.
Maybe we're not supposed to think alike, believe alike, create alike, or live alike.
Maybe we're supposed to express our own light.
Because this world is too big for someone to feel small.

🕯️ Take This With You
For the next few days, before you immediately reach for your phone in the morning, take a breath.
Sit quietly.
And ask yourself:
“What do I need today?”
Not what does everyone else need from you.
Not what's happening in the world.
Not what everybody thinks you should do.
Just:
What do I need?
Then listen.
Because intuition doesn't always kick down the door.
Sometimes it whispers.
And if you take nothing else from this episode, remember this:
The chaos is the background noise.
Your Spirit is the signal.
Listen for it.
Trust yourself.
Protect your energy.
Love yourself.
Create something.
Laugh.
Dance.
Go outside.
Look at the sky.
Talk to somebody you love.
And whatever you believe Spirit is...
make a little room to listen.
There may still be so much inside you that hasn't been expressed yet.
Maybe this is the time to let it out.
❤️ I'm Deshanta. This is GenX Gon Give It To Ya.
Keep remembering who you are.
I love y'all. Peace.
