Christmas has landed at GDU and we are wrapping up the year with plenty of laughs, stories and shiny new finds. This month, PCE is joined by John and Di from Geostuff.com.au for Tinsel, Trackables and Tall Tales, our annual festive catch up full of all things geocaching.
We will be chatting about the fun that shaped 2025. From your favourite souvenirs and the moments that earned them, to standout events, tricky Treasures and the memorable caches that had us all reaching for our GPS like it was a Christmas pav. If you love a bit of geochat mixed with seasonal cheer, this one is made for you.
Expect light hearted stories, a few cheeky surprises and the kind of cache chatter that feels like gathering around the tree after a long year of adventures. It is the perfect way to close out another big year of finding, hiding and exploring across Australia.

Tassie is calling, and this one’s making history!
This month, PCE is catching up with Andy and Tracey from the Subcommittee behind The Tassie Event, happening 7–8 March 2026 in sunny Sorell. It’s set to be the first ever Mega in Tasmania, the furthest south Mega in Australia, and home to what’s believed to be the furthest south Maze in the world!
We’ll be chatting about everything you’ll want to know before making the trek. From the event trail kicking off in the north-west, to clever gadget caches, stunning GeoArt, and adventure labs that’ll make your GPS sing. Plus, there’s no shortage of jaw-dropping landscapes, quirky towns, and cheeky caches waiting to be discovered across the Apple Isle.
If you’ve ever dreamed of taking your caching adventures as far south as they can go, this is your sign.

Aquilus1 and Sacada set themselves one of the biggest geocaching missions you can imagine. First they found a cache in every Local Government Area (LGA) across Australia that has a geocache. Then they took on New Zealand, covering 17 LGAs in just five wild weeks on top of the 539 LGAs in Australia.
From bogged vans and daily rain to volcanic islands, black sand beaches, and chance encounters with cops and kiwis, their adventure was as unpredictable as it was unforgettable.
This is the story of two friends, years of planning, and the determination to log every available LGA in both countries.

Got a geocaching trip in the works and not sure where to start? This month on Geocaching Downunder, we are joined by KittyKatch to explore Cachetur.no, the trip planning tool built by geocachers for geocachers.
We will look at what Cachetur is, why it is worth using, and how it can take the stress out of planning. From setting up your first trip to sharing it with friends, KittyKatch will walk us through the basics, plus a few tips to help you get more out of your time on the trail.
Whether you are planning a mega run across the state or just looking to make the most of a weekend, this is a great tool to make your geocaching trip run without a DNF.

Challenge Caches Because a Regular Smiley Is Too Easy
Ever found a cache you can’t log until you’ve done 100 multis, spelled your name with finds, and survived a streak? That’s a Challenge Cache. This month we’re catching up with BFMC, a fellow cacher who’s made Challenge hunting a true part of the game.
Whether you're just wrapping your head around what a Challenge Cache even is, or you're halfway through a fizzy grid and knee-deep in project-gc tabs, this one’s for you. We’re talking about what makes a Challenge Cache different, how to figure out if you qualify, and some of the creative and downright weird ones we’ve come across. Plus, BFMC shares how these caches changed the way he plays the game.
We’ll also cover what to keep in mind if you’re thinking about placing your own Challenge Cache, and the number one piece of advice he gives to anyone attempting their first.

What do you get when a curious newbie lands in Canberra with a GPS and a sense of adventure? You get C10A and a whole lot of firsts.
But first, we beam up SnappyTomCats and Candice to chat about the big event landing soon in South Australia. The Eudunda Extraterrestrial Encounters June Long Weekend Event (6–9 June) is set to bring geocachers from far and wide to Eudunda for a weekend of aliens, outer space, UFOs, and of course plenty of caching. Get the lowdown on what to expect and why you might want to pack your tin foil hat.
Then it’s back to Earth (and Canberra) as C10A shares their journey into geocaching, the surprise friendships, hiding that first cache, and the awkward art of figuring it all out.
If you’re new to the game (or still remember the chaos of your first DNF), this one’s for you.
Tune in and tag a newbie they’ll thank you later.
