DEVELOPMENT HELL returns with a brand new limited audio series: ROMERO UNSEEN. Unearth the unmade films of a horror master as we dig up never-finished George A. Romero projects every Tuesday this March on the Dread Podcast Network.
Romero scholar Adam Charles Hart cohosts the miniseries. His new book RAISING THE DEAD: THE WORK OF GEORGE A. ROMERO is OUT NOW from Oxford University Press. You can pick up your copy here.
PART TWO: GEORGE A. ROMERO'S UNMADE RESIDENT EVIL MOVIE
In 1998, Capcom hired the grandfather of zombie cinema to adapt RESIDENT EVIL, their blockbuster video game series, into a feature film. Romero had his assistant record himself playing the games and would then study the footage, crafting a script that held to the heart of the first game in the iconic survival horror series.
Adam walks us through this fascinating script and helps us unpack why this adaptation was ultimately canceled. Peek into an alternate horror history and learn about what the Romero RESIDENT EVIL film really might have looked like.
