The Soul Family Saga begins. This is Darren's Story.
Sarah Covington has known Darren Soul since she was 11. He blasted between her driveway's live oaks on a screaming crotch rocket and changed her world. Five years later he kissed her. Seven years later he did a whole lot more than kiss her. She never had the chance to tell him the truth about that night.
Sarah returns to Beauville, SC, to confront her father's impending death. She learns that the plantation that has been in her family for hundreds of years is inches away from foreclosure. Six years and nine months after the last mortifying time she saw him, Darren saunters in like Sir Galahad, ready to save the day. Except he can't.
Old antagonism dies hard, but so does an attraction that Sarah knew even before she could name it. Sarah can't bring herself to trust his motives or her judgement. When the old house yields up an unpredictable solution to its own problem, Sarah faces decisions that will influence the rest of her life. Choosing to make them alone may cost her dearly.
Members Reviews:
Well written and well read...
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. It has a decent, if not slightly predictable, story but the writing of the author makes up for that. The narrator does a wonderful job with the different characters which made it even better.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the Sarah, the main character. The way she thought and talked to people was well developed. She was a stand up for yourself, confident type of character who knew when to admit to being wrong.
Which character as performed by Kathryn LaPlante was your favorite?
Sarah, the main character was my favorite followed by the slightly nasally younger sister that is still in college.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end of this book moved me. Darren's speech to Sarah was deeply moving and loving.
A welcome experience.
Well written story. The narration and multiple voices were very well done. I look forward to future books by this author and especially this narrator.
Small town bad boy Soul, to small town Soul mate.
I loved Darren.Wish I could marry that man. I couldn't wait to read this book to see how it turned out for Sarah and Darren 's future. The Soul brothers definitely have what it takes to keep a girls attention. The only thing is girls, at a few points in the story you will want to go through your e-reader and shake the living day lights out of Sarah. lol Even though Darren started out your typical small town bad boy with a lot to prove, he's all grown up and OMG!
Good book. Great narration!
I enjoyed listening to this book. It has a good story with some interesting twists. I have never listened to this particular narrator but I really enjoyed her voice. I will look for more stories that she has read.
