Dating book is extreme pro-women/anti-men.

Ian Kerner's book DSI is so anti-men that I thought the author MUST be a woman using a male pseudonym. I had to check Wikipedia to make sure "he" was really a guy. Far from being funny and insightful, the book paints ONLY men as the bad guys in failed or struggling relationships. Women who knowingly date and screw married guys so they can have the husband to themselves (ruining the marriage) are portrayed as victims when the husband fails to abandon his family. Women who use sex as a weapon to punish boyfriends or advance their careers with bosses (married or single) are modern, progressive women. Guys who fail to committ to marriage are snakes. At the end of a few chapters are good, solid comments about dating life in the modern era. But these are few and far between. Men "types" who lie about their dating motives with women are high lighted as Dating Fugitives. Not one single lying, two timing woman is accused of bad behaviour. The book is eye opening, if the case histories are true, into just how many modern women are interested in making money first and foremost. They have no intention of working 1/10 as hard to make a relationship work. And Dr. Kerner seems to have no problem with that. Pass on this book.

Not as good as his other books.

I ordered it because I enjoyed his other books so much. He is great at conveying what is needed. But this book just wasn't what I was hoping for, less information and more real stories.

Better books on dating are out there

Kerner does a good job of giving a light hearted book of common dating problms. He discusses many different topics: bad timing, being stuck in the past, people who do not commit, getting comfortable too early in a relationship, dating metrosexual, and other topics. The book is styled as if each topic was a criminal investigation.

Don't waste your time.

This is the kind of whining that gives feminists a bad name. From I hate my mother TO I hate my father TO all men are pigs, I couldn't get past the first 4 hours. I tried and tried, but finally gave up and quit.

The author stereotypes women and speaks as if she represents us all. Her study group is but a small segment of the female population. I'm a professionally successful, happily married, childless woman much like many of the woman she writes about, but I found this book offensive.

10 hours of her personal philosophy of marriage

If you?re a university educated, upper-class, non-religious professional woman living in a very large urban area in the industrialized world, you may well think this book is really smart. Otherwise, you?ll find it irritating. The author extensively elaborates on a variety of self help platitudes, apparently believing them to be startling new insights. Her research method involves substantiating her own observations on marriage (who cares?) by quoting the people she interviewed. Who her informants were demographically, how many there were, and how they were selected is never explained, undoubtedly because there was, in fact, no particular basis for their selection. Their views are never tabulated, aggregated or numerically described. We just hear from them when she wants to substantiate here own prejudices. She ignores a multitude of serious sociological studies on married women and sex and instead cites authorities such as Cosmopolitan surveys, the Wall Street Journal, ecrush.com, etc. She literally praises selfishness and arrogance. Wouldn?t have want her for my neighbor in New Orleans after Katrina. She would have tried to bump me off the bus. Hopefully she does not practice what she preaches in her own marriage. Bottom line ? save your money.

Misleading title and a lot of male bashing

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

To be honest about the title. As a male, I'm interested in the evolving attitudes toward sex by women, but this is mindless male bashing. She has the worldly understanding and compassion of Rush Limbaugh and is fair and as balanced as Fox news. Don't waste your time.

Dr. De Angelis shares from her rich wealth of relationship and love expertise to help singles, couples, and married people to become LOVERS. Indeed, when my late husband was dying from cancer certain aspect of the sexual dialect were not possible, however, we remained LOVERS as Barbara has so magnificently put it. Making Love is not always about the moment of the act, it is about the quality of the Connection.

She writes about sexuality, by the way, in a manner which combines both adult sophistication and 97% of it is where your grandmother could read it safely. Dr. De Angelis addresses sex and sensuality oh so carefully and tactfully so you need not be afraid to read it or be caught reading it. Very thoughtful of her.

Barbara both describes and prescribes practical help for couples to be LOVERS which includes the Spiritual plane.

Give a copy to your beloved for Valentine's Day, read it to each other, and then go do the practicum together to deepen your relationship intimacy.

Reawakening to Love

"Real Moments for Lovers" is one of the shortest books I've ever read. While there are only a few key ideas, applying them to your life will have big results. Barbara DeAngelis give practical ways to enhance intimacy through touch, gazing and sensual language.

What comes naturally when you are first "in love" can be relearned as passion seems to fade. This is a book for lovers who want to rediscover the excitement of new love. Barbara DeAngelis offers techniques you can use to reach deeper levels of intimacy.

Do the ideas work? From my own personal experience I think the chapter on touch is essential reading. My husband and I have tried out some of the ideas from this book and they seem to deepen intimacy and also promote a happier relationship.

Excellent. I am in my mid 50, and am divorced, and just returning to the dating scene. Barbara is so helpul. I have just picked up "The 100 Most-Asked question about love, sex, and relationships.

Appears to be a quickly written text with no real point or objective. The book is extremely short with large type and several "boxes" which just repeat key sentences. There is little practical application. This book also has a somewhat "new age" flavor to it.
