Title: In Bed with Susie Bright 643: Maintenance Sex

Author: Susie Bright

Narrator: Susie Bright

Format: Original Recording

Length: 31 mins

Language: English

Release date: 01-09-15

Publisher: In Bed with Susie Bright

Genres: Erotica & Sexuality, Susie Bright

Publisher's Summary:

What happens when your partner is in the mood and you're not? It's called maintenance sex, and it's been making headlines lately. Susie reads from a Jezebel.com article by Tracy Moore that gives some how-to tips for doing what many call "duty sex". Actress Amy Poehler does it, sex educator Dan Savage does it, and Susie has a lot to say about why maintenance sex is so controversial.

Next, we hear all about the first erotic computer game. Susie reads from an Atlantic article by Laine Noone about the first adult soft-porn computer game, which was text-based. When you booted-up the 5.25-inch floppy disk, you saw a puppet player who could "wear condom", "screw hooker", "buy whiskey", etc. - pretty steamy stuff for 1981-era computer games! Susie loves these historical gems.

Then, it's "What's New on Audible". Susie shares a new audiobook sample from a number-one best seller right now. Hard Limit by Meredith Wild, narrated by Jennifer Stark and Victor Bevine, will be a huge favorite for those who liked Fifty Shades of Grey.

Members Reviews:

GOOD STORY

Action packed...good flow .. the narrating was ok ... i like the sound additions to help make the story more engaging ..cant wait for the sequel ....

Plot lacked depth

The storyline was predictable. The main character lacked personality. The narration was awful! It resembled the style of a sportscaster or even a 1940s radio actor. I've listened to HUNDREDS of audiobooks. This book and narration is definitely in my top 5 terrible. I'm asking for a refund.

Interesting Read

Would you consider the audio edition of Wahida Clark Presents: Enemy Bloodline to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Didn't have one.

Have you listened to any of Mark A. Neelys other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but he's very good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was filled with action.

Any additional comments?

It was a bit too ghetto for me, but it had to be in order to be realistic.

I expected better

All over the place could've used a different narrator story line wasn't good and the characters didn't stand out . Not the best work

Members Reviews:

REALLY not feelingthe Narrator!!!

Would you try another book from Lori Bryant-Woolridge and/or Kathryn Ricks?

The Author yes, the Narrator NO!

What didnt you like about Kathryn Rickss performance?

She read ok but her style of reading for the storyline is not gripping! Her reading don't seem to match the stories!!

Did Can't Help the Way That I Feel inspire you to do anything?

Maybe if there was another Narrator.

Any additional comments?

I was excited to listen considering the other reviews but I'm struggling to get through the stories. She toooo dramatic for the stories. I just don't think she should have been chosen as the Narrator.

Don't waste your $$$

The stories are just fine but the voice actor....don't waste your money! It's a slow and exaggerated tone that makes it almost unbearable to sit through. The breathy heavy tone is so unnecessary to the stories and it ruins it. It's also quite nasally. This would be a great listen if the voice over was done by someone not trying too hard to exude a certain persona. It's horrible!!!

A GOOD listen

Good storyline. Not too violent, I thought the main character could have been a little more on her game but it was not a bad listen.

Members Reviews:

This is a book for younger readers

This was a different type of read only because I had to readjust my mind to a younger generation mind frame because kids these days weren't raised like I was. Mercedes was the true definition of spoiled rotten. This book wasn't bad it just seemed like the characters like Mercedes and Maria were naive and very passive and had no type of sense whatsoever they just did and thought what they were told. The story wasn't bad it just seemed to have a lapse of time from birth to teenager for Mercedes and unanswered questions regarding differnt charcters we met like Hazel and Chino. This performance wasn't bad and the voice matched the characters. All in all this story was for younger audience but I will read another book from this author. I do like how the book ended.

Enjoyed this listen

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chino.... He was sweet, loyal, protective, and he had style.

What about Hillary Hawkinss performance did you like?

I liked how she would match the pace and intensity of her narration based on what was happening. During scenes of action, her voice reflected the excitement and helped to give a better visual.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Price of a father's sins

Any additional comments?

This book was good all of the way through. Most of the characters were likable and you care what is happening with them. There was a good bit of action, and I never questioned the realism while listening. Good book. This would be a great book for Noir fans. I'm looking forward to part 2.

GREAT!

What did you like about this audiobook?

I love the plot of the book, There was never a dull moment with this book. There should be a series for this book.

Great read

What did you love best about The Hustler's Daughter?

The relationship between don and Mercedes

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hustler's Daughter?

When Mercedes got shot

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

Who was the most memorable character of The Hustler's Daughter and why?

Don because he was strong and took care of his family

The story teller

Made the book very hard to listen too. The story itself was ok, but that story teller

Publisher: Pink Lotus

Genres: Fiction, African-American

Publisher's Summary:

Suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Alex returned home from Iraq with tons of baggage. Though he'd been warned transitioning back to civilian life wouldn't be easy, he had no idea had difficult it could really be...

Jasalyn was grateful to Alex for saving her brother's life in Iraq and made it her personal mission to try and heal the broken soldier. What she hadn't counted on was his racist father and the demons Alex fought daily inside his own head.

Will Jasalyn be able to save the shattered soldier and find love for herself in the process?

Members Reviews:

Ehhhh.

Overall it was a decent story. Some of the conversations and inner monologues were a reach. I would hear certain reactions or hear what jasaline was thinking and cringe like really? Thats a stretch

The narrator wasnt good at capturing the tone of certain phrases and didnt use the correct enunciation at times. For example listening to the words you could tell the writer was trying to convey sarcasm but she spoke it flatly or with an aggressive undertone.

The story line was ok but a lot of the build up was very anticlimactic! Are we to believe his racist father just rolled over immediately? I thought when they located Alex there would be a scuffle or a big blowout where he told his father all

The things he never had. But... nothing.

Jasalines character was not very well written either. First shes super patient with Alex then randomly forceful and whiny? Shes super shy and practically a virgin but refers to her vagina as a cunt??? Cmon!

Oh and TO BE CLEAR! NO WOMAN WILL EVER CALLED HER VAGINA A CUNT! Wtf????!!! Poor attempt at trying to throw a dirty word in there to sexy the storyline up!

Ijs

Not for me.

I'm guessing young author with limited experience. This could have been a 10th grade creative writing assignment.

Narration was also bad. No variation in characters or gender. And she pronounced "ask/s" as "ax". Drove me crazy.

sweet story, touching and steamy

Enjoyed this story very much, will get more from this author. The portrayal of the emotionally wounded warrior had me in tears. unexpected bandage twist.

Nice for the Price

A very Short, but sweet love story.

Alex served with Jasalyn's brother in Iraq. He returns physically intact, but with PSDS. She picks him up at the airport, there's instant chemistry. But due to his emotional state, and the fact that his father is a blatant bigot, he's hesitant to pursue her.

I must have blinked. But I have no idea how everything was OVERCOME but they fall in love and get married. the End.

Oh Well. I never like to give the whole story away. But for $2.99 you ether will buy it or you won't. It's basically a pleasant time waster.

Title: Mother Daughter Sex Advice

Author: Susie Bright, Aretha Bright

Narrator: Susie Bright, Aretha Bright

Format: Unabridged

Length: 1 hr and 53 mins

Language: English

Release date: 08-24-12

Publisher: Audible Studios

Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 12 votes

Genres: Erotica & Sexuality, Susie Bright

Publisher's Summary:

Welcome to the "girl-talk" you thought you'd never hear in public! Susie (52) and Aretha Bright (19) are a mother/daughter team of columnists from Jezebel.com, whose readers flooded them with explicit dilemmas about sexual pleasures and disasters, body issues, dating, relationships, and young marriage. Chapters include:

Is a mother and daughter sex advice column going to be an unending nightmare of T.M.I.? Can family members really talk about this stuff? Susie and Aretha had to open the envelope to find out. Each took turns with the same questions, and thats when the eye-opening arguments began. Mother/Daughter Sex Advice offers hilarious, thoughtful, and genuine insight from two generations who respect each other's opinion most of the time.

If you want cutting-edge sex advice that goes beyond pregnancy-and-disease-control - if youre ready to hear family conversations about sex that are real and refreshing (if not always agreeable!) - if youre primed to move beyond Our Bodies Ourselves, this is the book for you.

Members Reviews:

Witty & wise girl talk, no holds barred

This was my first Audible listen after deciding to buy a membership hoping it would help me finish more books! It was an ideal book to start with because it was short and similar in format to some of the podcasts I already enjoy (most notably Savage Love).

Susie Bright, sex-positive educator and activist, co-authored a Jezebel sex-advice column along with her daughter, Aretha. The book presents some of the best letters & responses from the column and highlights the easy camaraderie, respect and affection between the two. Some may find the frank, no-holds-barred mother-daughter conversations about sex off-putting, but I thought they were a breath of fresh air in a society that finds it so difficult to talk openly about sex. I wish I'd had an adult like Susie to talk to about sex when I hit my teens, and I wish I'd had half the wisdom of Aretha.

I was hoping for more arguments between them on what advice they should give. Hearing differing opinions from their two generations would have been quite revealing. But I found they agreed more often than not. It was, however, funny when Susie got exasperated with Aretha, or Aretha rolled her eyes (you could hear it happening) at her mother.

After listening to them, I can't imagine experiencing the book any other way. Their warmth and humor shone through. Listening to the book was like sitting on the bed with Susie, Aretha & a laptop while they chose letters and composed their responses and enjoying hearing the banter between them.

Fun

Very informative and fun! I love that mother and daighter can come together and discuss such taboo subjects. Great listen!

Review:

"The Other Side Of Goodness" by Vanessa Davis Griggs never ceases to amaze me. Ms. Griggs' novel seem to really be right what you need to hear...about trust, love, divorce, politics, health issues....'bone marrow transplant,' breast cancer and above all the love of God. Definitely this was a Christian fiction that gets right to the heart. To see how Ms. Gabrielle has given her heart to the Lord was simply wonderful. Just seeing how she handles all that is going on around her was just beautiful in how this author has Gabrielle so well focused on doing the right thing.

The characters... from Gabrielle.. Zachary, Pastor Landris, Johnnie Mae Landris,Congressman Lawrence Simmons, Malachi, Paris, Imani, Dedra, William, Jessica to Jasmine and many others... made this novel such a wonderful read.

From the Author..."Its been eight years since Gabrielle Mercedes gave up her baby for adoption. But when she learns the child desperately needs a bone marrow transplant, she doesnt hesitate to contact the congressman. Like Lawrence, Gabrielle will fight for what she wants, even if it means the truth could ruin someone elses life and career." Now, I know that makes you want to pick up this wonderful read to see just what it is all about. You will not be disappointed!

"The Other Side of Goodness" was truly a enjoyable ride that you will not be able to put down until the end... definitely showing how God can take a sinner and put them on the other side of 'goodness.'

I recommend this book to all who would like to see how one can change and truly be of help to those in need.

Excellent!

Good Read! I love Vanessa Davis Griggs. Her book keep you wanting more. ..I can't hardly wait for her next book..

UM....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was ok but it was drawn out for no reason, there was no climax or anything and the end was left off..

Would you ever listen to anything by Vanessa Davis Griggs again?

Maybe

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Shari Peele?

no you ca nhear her every swallow.

Captivating

What a powerful storyline. I love the the realness of the Word of God, His Power, and His Grace that is written into the storylines.

Pretty interesting

What did you like best about The Other Side of Goodness? What did you like least?

It was an interesting story for a "church" book. I liked Gabrielle and her strength.
