GOOD STORY

Action packed...good flow .. the narrating was ok ... i like the sound additions to help make the story more engaging ..cant wait for the sequel ....

Plot lacked depth

The storyline was predictable. The main character lacked personality. The narration was awful! It resembled the style of a sportscaster or even a 1940s radio actor. I've listened to HUNDREDS of audiobooks. This book and narration is definitely in my top 5 terrible. I'm asking for a refund.

Don't waste your $$$

The stories are just fine but the voice actor....don't waste your money! It's a slow and exaggerated tone that makes it almost unbearable to sit through. The breathy heavy tone is so unnecessary to the stories and it ruins it. It's also quite nasally. This would be a great listen if the voice over was done by someone not trying too hard to exude a certain persona. It's horrible!!!

This is a book for younger readers

This was a different type of read only because I had to readjust my mind to a younger generation mind frame because kids these days weren't raised like I was. Mercedes was the true definition of spoiled rotten. This book wasn't bad it just seemed like the characters like Mercedes and Maria were naive and very passive and had no type of sense whatsoever they just did and thought what they were told. The story wasn't bad it just seemed to have a lapse of time from birth to teenager for Mercedes and unanswered questions regarding differnt charcters we met like Hazel and Chino. This performance wasn't bad and the voice matched the characters. All in all this story was for younger audience but I will read another book from this author. I do like how the book ended.

This book was good all of the way through. Most of the characters were likable and you care what is happening with them. There was a good bit of action, and I never questioned the realism while listening. Good book. This would be a great book for Noir fans. I'm looking forward to part 2.

Overall it was a decent story. Some of the conversations and inner monologues were a reach. I would hear certain reactions or hear what jasaline was thinking and cringe like really? Thats a stretch

The narrator wasnt good at capturing the tone of certain phrases and didnt use the correct enunciation at times. For example listening to the words you could tell the writer was trying to convey sarcasm but she spoke it flatly or with an aggressive undertone.

The story line was ok but a lot of the build up was very anticlimactic! Are we to believe his racist father just rolled over immediately? I thought when they located Alex there would be a scuffle or a big blowout where he told his father all

The things he never had. But... nothing.

Jasalines character was not very well written either. First shes super patient with Alex then randomly forceful and whiny? Shes super shy and practically a virgin but refers to her vagina as a cunt??? Cmon!

Oh and TO BE CLEAR! NO WOMAN WILL EVER CALLED HER VAGINA A CUNT! Wtf????!!! Poor attempt at trying to throw a dirty word in there to sexy the storyline up!

I'm guessing young author with limited experience. This could have been a 10th grade creative writing assignment.

Narration was also bad. No variation in characters or gender. And she pronounced "ask/s" as "ax". Drove me crazy.

sweet story, touching and steamy

Enjoyed this story very much, will get more from this author. The portrayal of the emotionally wounded warrior had me in tears. unexpected bandage twist.

Nice for the Price

A very Short, but sweet love story.

Alex served with Jasalyn's brother in Iraq. He returns physically intact, but with PSDS. She picks him up at the airport, there's instant chemistry. But due to his emotional state, and the fact that his father is a blatant bigot, he's hesitant to pursue her.

I must have blinked. But I have no idea how everything was OVERCOME but they fall in love and get married. the End.

Oh Well. I never like to give the whole story away. But for $2.99 you ether will buy it or you won't. It's basically a pleasant time waster.

Witty & wise girl talk, no holds barred

This was my first Audible listen after deciding to buy a membership hoping it would help me finish more books! It was an ideal book to start with because it was short and similar in format to some of the podcasts I already enjoy (most notably Savage Love).

Susie Bright, sex-positive educator and activist, co-authored a Jezebel sex-advice column along with her daughter, Aretha. The book presents some of the best letters & responses from the column and highlights the easy camaraderie, respect and affection between the two. Some may find the frank, no-holds-barred mother-daughter conversations about sex off-putting, but I thought they were a breath of fresh air in a society that finds it so difficult to talk openly about sex. I wish I'd had an adult like Susie to talk to about sex when I hit my teens, and I wish I'd had half the wisdom of Aretha.

I was hoping for more arguments between them on what advice they should give. Hearing differing opinions from their two generations would have been quite revealing. But I found they agreed more often than not. It was, however, funny when Susie got exasperated with Aretha, or Aretha rolled her eyes (you could hear it happening) at her mother.

After listening to them, I can't imagine experiencing the book any other way. Their warmth and humor shone through. Listening to the book was like sitting on the bed with Susie, Aretha & a laptop while they chose letters and composed their responses and enjoying hearing the banter between them.

Very informative and fun! I love that mother and daighter can come together and discuss such taboo subjects. Great listen!

"The Other Side Of Goodness" by Vanessa Davis Griggs never ceases to amaze me. Ms. Griggs' novel seem to really be right what you need to hear...about trust, love, divorce, politics, health issues....'bone marrow transplant,' breast cancer and above all the love of God. Definitely this was a Christian fiction that gets right to the heart. To see how Ms. Gabrielle has given her heart to the Lord was simply wonderful. Just seeing how she handles all that is going on around her was just beautiful in how this author has Gabrielle so well focused on doing the right thing.

The characters... from Gabrielle.. Zachary, Pastor Landris, Johnnie Mae Landris,Congressman Lawrence Simmons, Malachi, Paris, Imani, Dedra, William, Jessica to Jasmine and many others... made this novel such a wonderful read.

From the Author..."Its been eight years since Gabrielle Mercedes gave up her baby for adoption.
