This is brilliant, hysterican and inspired. I don't know how she does it. The characters are all highly original and funny, the sketches are not too long so it is fast paced. Can't wait for cd number 3!!!

Funny, funny, funny!

OK, this is not quite as fantastic as series 1, but it is still 95 percent better than most UK comedy downloads you'll ever try. Laura's wonderful characters--esp. the truly demented China lion lady and the upperclass owner of rat-infested Chingley Hall--are good company and hysterically funny. This is comedy that relies primarily on wit and character to launch the laughs. I can't wait for series 3!

So sad there isn't much more of this.

I love Laura Solon's work. The lady from the house is a wonderful creation. As are the many other characters. I have listened to this over and over and can't wait to find more.

nutty, sometimes fun

Would you consider the audio edition of Take It from Here to be better than the print version?

This doesn't apply, as it's a variety show; it would be a drag to read it without hearing it.

If youve listened to books by Dennis Norden and Frank Muir before, how does this one compare?

They can be brilliant, and their performance is good, but this sample isn't their best material.

Which scene was your favorite?

The recurring dramas involving the father and his maladjusted son are the most memorable, and very funny.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it's more a box of assorted bonbons to come back to (several half-hour shows).

Any additional comments?

The sketches are snappy and reckless, the carefully arranged musical numbers something of a bore. No pause points to skip to except between whole shows.

I only really bought this to listen to the glums there are four half hour shows with dreadful songs from the fifties and apart from the glums the humour is tired. but it is I feel still nice to listen to for the nostalgia. if you listen carefully to the script you can sometimes here the comic beating the censor. As at the time Auntie beeb still attempted to stop us listening to bad language and blue jokes. Which happens to be one of the things I admired as when you listen nowadays the language is foul and English spoken properly with correct annunciation is extinct and even joked about. I have to admit I can see the funny side though but miss the more quiet innocence of my childhood.

Great Classic Comedy

Even though Take it from Here was broadcast over 30 years before I was born, I really enjoyed listening to it. I first started listening to it when it was broadcast on BBC Radio 7 and it grew on me. This inspired me to buy this audio book. I don't regret it. It definitely has it's place with other comedy shows of that type, such as the Goon Show, Hancock's Half Hour and Round the Horne. Overall, I feel it was a really enjoyable listen and I hope Audible adds more episodes of this show and others to it's catalogue.Even though Take it from Here was broadcast over 30 years before I was born, I really enjoyed listening to it.
