Paco Excel is a true Renaissance man. This tattoo artist, illustrator, muralist, and musician based in Pacifica, California honed his craft in San Jose as a graffiti artist, then airbrushing, doing murals, painting lowriders and businesses in the neighborhood–even designing logos for rappers. He later broke into tattoo art in a big way, leveraging his graffiti art and characters before starting New School Tattoo in San Jose. His new aesthetic challenged the prevailing biker tattoo art establishment, emulating the renowned San Francisco tattoo artists of the era. He later fell in love with Japanese tattooing, becoming a sought-after traditional Japanese tattooer featured in magazines, doing guest spots worldwide, and introducing the American public to using the entire body as a single canvas for tattoos, following the Japanese method. At the height of his success and acclaim, Paco gave up his practice for “mental health.” He now operates on an occasional basis from a small private studio, leaving more time to focus on his  music,  murals, surfing, and other passions.
