It was a very exciting race - there was a crashfest to start, some epic defenses, a mighty comeback through the ranks, and an outcome we would never have guessed. A hugely satisfying race for Alpine and Williams, but disappointment for many teams and drivers, just before heading in to the Summer Break.

On this episode of Get Checkered, Shanika (@shanabeysinghe) and Caitlin (@caconne), share their thoughts on the British Grand Prix. This race will FOR SURE go down in the memory books, and Netflix is just reveling in the drama for the upcoming season for Drive to Survive. The hefty shunt between Max and Lewis on Lap 1 had everyone's adrenaline going from the start - there were lots of opinions, lots of commentary, and the girls definitely give their two cents to the situation in this episode. There were pit stop problems, and a race for the checkered flag at the end that the girls go over, all of which combined to make this a race to remember.

The race was uneventful but, the FIA seemed to be having the time of their lives giving everyone penalties. The girls learned a lot about what not to do in a race and how, sometimes, the drivers, commentators, and others aren't really sure why certain penalties were called. Some highlights: the Ferrari strategy, Lando landing on the podium in P3, and Valterri finally having a great race.

This episode is a journey with Shanika nursing a post-wedding hangover, Caitlin's cats making multiple appearances and both of them not knowing what race it is. Was it as exciting as Baku? No. But, it's clear that there are some emerging trends: Red Bull Racing is dominating and that Mercedes needs to figure out a better strategy; Lando Norris continues to impress and is lifting McLaren while Danny still is struggling; and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are holding steady for Ferrari. A disappointment: Pierre Gasly being out so quickly.
