This week we talked about the challenges of living pay check to paycheck, specifically the mental challenges this can present. We recognize that many of us try to live beyond our means, and explored the cultural beliefs that lead us to prioritizing material possessions. At the same time, we agreed that some people simply are not earning enough to cover the basic expenses of living and providing for our families needs. Ultimately, we came to the conclusion that there just isn't one answer to this issue, and that we all confront a number of challenges around this. We recalled that there are tools that help us deal with the things we can control, and remembered the value of not getting drawn into Monkey Mind chatter, but instead letting ourselves take chances in our lives, and not being discouraged before we even start. In this episode we discuss a topic that Bill has been thinking about. Can we exercise and develop our mental health the same way that we exercise our bodies? 
Wow, what a great question!  We look at how we react to particular situations and thoughts , and how focused attention to those reactions allows us to respond differently than we are used to.  We then explore the idea of  "Flow State", looking at what this means in general, and to each of us as individuals. Bill finds his flow state through physical training while Gina practices yoga and meditation. Self awareness is very helpful if we are hoping to find our own individual flow state, and there is no one right way, each of us has to figure out what that means for us.
Gina mentioned a book called "Be Here Now" , by Ram Dass, in which the author describes many different ways to possibly achieve this state of focus. It's a book well worth reading.

In this episode, Bill looks at his sense that some of the people he cares about are not always being honest with him. He acknowledges that this has been an ongoing issue with him, and something that he works at being aware of all the time. We looked at some of his own motives for not always telling the truth, to see if he could better understand the motives of others.   It does seem to be true, that the things we become aware of in ourselves we do start to see more clearly in others.   Thanks, as always for your wonderful support...remember you are our reason for doing this podcast, and we would love to hear from you!

More than 6 months ago when we started this podcast journey, it was our intention to discuss everyday life's challenges and joys with everyday people.   We never follow a script, we simply chose a subject and then let the conversation flow. Our reason for choosing this approach was to provide our listeners with an open and honest experience, one that people could relate to. In this episode we discuss an article called 5 Signs you are neglecting Your Inner Child. Gina describes what is meant when people talk about our inner child and the value that can be found in paying attention to this often neglected part of ourselves.
Bill explores his own relationship to his inner child, and his childhood, and even those of his own parents. All of us deal with different thoughts and feelings, and can, at times, feel confused and overwhelmed by these.   Our hope is that through this, and all of our episodes, we can help minimize confusion, and support greater understanding of ourselves and others.   Thank you, as always, for all your enthusiastic feedback and love!  

Right before we began recording this week, we considered what we wanted to talk about. Characteristically, once we got rolling, we took a left turn, and ended up discussing The Vagina Monologues! If you're curious about how that happened, you'll just have to listen to find out. The rest of the time was spent with Bill doing therapy with Gina...or so he says.    Gina and Bill both have their own thoughts and opinions, and love challenging and sparring with each other.   It's yet again a fun and interesting episode, so we hope you enjoy it, and as always, welcome your input.

In our first episode of 2019 we talk about how important it can be to look back at where we started, and how far we have come. Bill describes his recent family trip to Savannah GA to illustrate how far we have come as a society.   We also touch on some different topics which we will take a closer look at in upcoming episodes.   Overall. It was great to be back. We are excited at the prospect of a full year of looking closer at ourselves and sharing that, and other interesting guests with all you !

This week, we had some fun discussing "Love it Forward " by Jeff Brown.

 We flipped through the pages, stopped at a random quote, and shared our thoughts about the quote. In particular, the idea of Karma grabbed our interest, and we spent some time exploring that concept.

Gina and Bill also dove into the idea of self worth, and particularly Bill's personal take on that.

This week, our guest was Tia, who describes herself as a Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Yoga Instructor. In our conversation, we discovered that there is way more to this young woman than those titles alone reveal.  She has had quite an amazing and challenging journey, one which some might describe as full of horrifying situations. Tia  has chosen instead to understand that everything happens for us, rather than to us, and had decided to learn and grow from all she has been through, in order to better help others do the same. She has shared her process on this weeks podcast, and our hope if that you, our listeners, will be inspired to take a similar perspective on the trials that come our way in life.
