Today's episode features Max Warren, Co-founder and CRO of SpeakerFlow. His background is in Corporate sales with a focus on Voice, data and video applications and products and recently, he's been focusing on Business Development and Inside Sales in Professional Services. Intentional Thoughts and Actions
As leaders we have to have intentionality in thoughts AND action.
Bring full presence to a situation, think about leading someone, biggest thing is having a clear idea of where you are leading them, front or behind.
Be intentional about it because you have that responsibility on your shoulders and need to have an aim and outcome in mind.
Without a clear intention, how do you get others to buy in and come together as a team?
Communicate how actions now get to larger picture
Restate person’s statement, “what I heard you say was…” shared intention, active listening, start with questions
Get on call and have a meeting, at end, come back and ask, “do you feel like we covered everything?”
Gives them buy in and makes them feel validated.
Make a shared experience, not feeling hijacked, ASK QUESTIONS to ge clarity, repeat things back
Can’t lead someone who is disengaged, no sense of cohesiveness or trust- MUST get their buy in
Conflict and leadership
Show people how what they’re doing moves the needle for everyone.
Conflict, no definition of success, how can people figure out what is expected of them?
Lack of communication or leaving vacuum of unknowns does not work.
When someone's back is against the wall-the immediate response is to be defensive and to blame.
Part of intention is being a student of those around you-emotional intelligence
Have to care, be socially aware of what makes them tick, plays to their strengths
SHARED INTENTION is an art
Words have meaning and become more persuasive when there’s empathy behind them.
