    Title: Finding My Voice
    Author: Russell Watson
    Narrator: Jonathan Keeble

Length: 9 hrs and 42 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 02-05-13
    Publisher: Random House Audiobooks
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Russell 'The Voice' Watson is a star with a real story to tell. While most stars of today find success early, Russell was still working in a Salford factory at the age of 30. He spent the evenings singing in working men's clubs for extra cash to keep the bailiffs from his family's door. The chairman of Manchester United gave him his big break in May 1999: the opportunity to sing at Old Trafford. His extraordinary performance was quickly followed by a record deal and his phenomenal debut album.
Despite his outward success, Russell struggled with his health and family life. His rapid rise to fame led to a bitter divorce from his childhood sweetheart and his private life being splashed across the tabloids. Then last year he was struck down by a life-threatening brain tumour. This plunged Russell into a deep depression and it was only the thought of leaving his two children fatherless that kept him going.
Just when it seemed he was fully recovered he collapsed again while recording and had to have emergency surgery on a second brain tumour that threatened his voice, his sight and his life. Now, in his own words, Russell tells us the amazing story of his life.
    Members Reviews:
A Great Story by a Very Courageous Man
The first thing I realized when I started reading Russell Watson's book, "Finding My Voice," is that we American's do not necessarily speak the same English language as the Brits do. Well, basically, it's much the same, but the English evidently have some "slang" terms which are a complete mystery to me, and probably to many other Americans. Yet, Russell's book is a very pleasant read and most enlightening.
I had read that Russell had twice had to have surgery for cancer, and until I read the book I was under the impression that the cancer had been in either his mouth or throat. However, what he had was evidently a pituitary tumor which required not only surgery, but also what sounds like some pretty grueling treatments.
Russell's book has quite a light-hearted feeling to it, considering what he's been through. It is sometimes sad to read, sometimes quite humorous, but always interesting.
I've watched some of his videos on YouTube, but haven't bought any of his DVDs since from what I've seen advertised, they don't seem to be available for Region 1...which is where I live. I doubt that my player would play them. But, I do have several of his CDs and am looking forward to getting more. This courageous man's voice is one of the strongest and most perfect I've heard...I can think of only a couple singers who come anywhere near him in voice quality. I wish for him many long years of life and happiness, and for those of us who love his music, many more recordings of that incredible voice.
    Surprisingly Good!!!
I initially wanted to read this book because Russell Watson is my favourite singer and I knew that he had been through some pretty major things but I was surprised how truly interesting it was and how well written it was as well. I loved reading how "normal" and down to earth he is and how he didn't hesitate to admit to getting big headed a couple of times.

Is Billy Brownless any good at making milkshakes? And what did James Hird want with the Fish at 3am, one hour after surgery? Paul Salmon - the Big Fish - reveals all in More Fish Tales.
In his second collection of stories from a long and eventful playing career, Australian football's most celebrated big man takes us behind the scenes, into the change rooms and boardrooms and onto the field. Paul tells of match-day madness inside the coach's box, various teammates' brave but unsuccessful business ventures, his comeback year with Essendon in 2002 - and the ongoing challenge of trying to figure out the enigma that is Kevin Sheedy. Just like sitting down and having a chinwag with a mate, More Fish Tales is a delightful mixture of people's stupidity, the foolish indiscretions of youth, some well-chosen words of wisdom - and a laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all.

    Great read
Where does Ricky rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

He tells it as it is
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was sad when it took to 1970 to have children and 1973 when he was jailed how he kept sane I don't know he was a great actor loved roughnecks and the royle family
    superb audiobook
superb audiobook great life story of Ricky tomlinson also brilliant narration by Ricky tomlinson loved it
    brilliant
loved ricky in brookside. he.s one i.d love a beer n a chat with. deffo.
    Nice one Ricky
Even though read by Ricky Tomlinson the book was a better read, I felt Ricky left a lot out of the book, his funny stories. This was more of a highlight of his book, so I was disappointed by this. However I appreciated he did tell the story just wish it was word by word of the book version.
    What a life
What a story and what a life. From his days in prison to his work in film and television this is an amazing story. Hope he gets his pardon for his mate.

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 13 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-15-12
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Christopher Martin-Jenkins, or CMJ to his many fans as well as listeners of Test Match Special, is perhaps the voice of cricket; an unparalleled authority whose insight and passion for cricket as well as his style of commentary have captured what it is that makes the sport so special. In his many years as a commentator and journalist - reporting for the BBC, the Times and the Cricketer among others - CMJ has covered some of the biggest moments in the sport's history. And in this memoir CMJ looks back on a lifetime spent in service to this most bizarre and beguiling of sports and tells the stories of the players, coaches, and fans he met along the way.
Recounted with all the warmth and vigour that has endeared CMJ to generations of cricket fans, this memoir relives the moments that defined modern cricket and which shaped his life in turn. It is a must-have for all devotees of the sport.
    Members Reviews:
    Disappointing
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes: with qualifiers. Friend would have to enjoy cricket, and have appreciated the contribution made by CMJ to this great game.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
    Didn't get to the ending.
What about Charles Collingwoods performance did you like?
Professionally narrated. Could have easily been CMJ himself. Collingwood left the impressionsthat he also genuinely enjoys cricket as a spectator, and maybe as a former player himself.
Was CMJ: A Cricketing Life worth the listening time?
Could have been more worth it:too much emphasis on county matters and criticisms of the BBC's coverage of football to the expense of cricket.
    Any additional comments?
CMJ covers his visits to the major cricketing nations, and not always treated each country fairly. He was somewhat disparaging of New Zealand and our cricket. The English snobbery showed through here - CMJ didn't feel it worthy of recording that there have been many advances in recent years, and seemed to forget that New Zealand has occasionally beaten England, and that issues of English complacency have meant a generally poor treatment by England of New Zealand as a test playing nation.
    Sorry to say, disappointing
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
All in all, a little dun and not nearly as funny as I had hoped for. It seems that the stories about CMJ were actually much funnier than the stories he told.
Has CMJ: A Cricketing Life put you off other books in this genre?
No not really, I enjoy cricket stories and biographies too, just this was somewhat of a let down
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Not the narrator's fault this time.
Do you think CMJ: A Cricketing Life needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Silly question, the poor man is dead.
    enjoy
i must admit of all the TMS commentators CMJ was the one i least liked, i thought he was toffee nosed and abit of an old f**t. but i thoroughly enjoyed his audio book. he seemed to tell it correctly and pulled no punches as i expected that he would. a very good read or listen.

David is a real Bobby Dazzler, all right
I have been watching David D. on BBC America for over a year and I am a real fan of his show, Bargain Hunt. I greatly enjoyed reading his book and learning more about him. He has taken what life has brought him and made a great success out of his experiences, good and bad. I wish I could meet him and be a contestant on Bargain Hunt. Here's to the Duke!
Cheap as Chips, Cheap as Chips
A great biography about one of Britain's most talented antigue dealers and "showman". He is real and very much a character. His has facets to his personality that make him unique in today's business world. Great read!
    Bargain Hunt on BBC America
This is a wonderful autobiography by the host of the great BBC America TV show - "Bargain Hunt"! David Dickinson has had a varied life from his childhood, his strict but wonderful "Nanny", finding out he was adopted, talking to and writing to his birth mother but never meeting her and his time spent in prison! Some passages are humorous, compassionate, and serious! He values those mistakes he made because he learned from them and he speaks to groups about this. As an agent for his wife Lorne, an entertainer, he has met extaordinary people and in his business as an antique dealer! Throughout this book you get to know him and you'll wish you could meet him and be his friend! I highly recommend it to every reader whether you've seen the show or not!

    My neighbor and friend
Nick would randomly recall to me few of his thoughts of his time in captivity. Hearing these words now, bring a tear to my eye. He is greatly missed by so many.
    Five Years to Freedom.
What did you like best about Five Years to Freedom? What did you like least?
An interesting enough book worth money. You wonder how many men will never return from POWs. I would recommend this book.
    Absolutely Engaging.
The true story of Nick Rowe's 5 years as a Viet Cong POW will keep you reading non-stop. It's one of those tales of courage and hope that you pray ends well.
    An awesome saga of endurance
Unimaginable experiences by an American Special Forces Officer captive of the Viet Cong for an brutal 5 long years...... well written to focus on the facts & what helped him hold on to his sanity, thru the surprise incidents that allow his escape to US Forces. A soldier's story.
    Incredible story
If you could sum up Five Years to Freedom in three words, what would they be?
short story, but amazing all the same. Tells the very personal journey of men in captivity and changed the way the military approaches training for captured personnel.

    Title: Godfrey's Ghost
    Author: Nicholas Ridley
    Narrator: Nicholas Ridley, Terry Molloy
    Format: Abridged
Length: 3 hrs and 35 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-11-12
    Publisher: Copyright Group
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Godfreys Ghost is, at its heart, the story of a father written by his son.
As a young man, Arnold Ridley was chiefly known as the author of the long running comedy thriller, The Ghost Train. Today he is remembered for his television performances as Private Godfrey, the oldest member of the Dads Army platoon. But Dads Army came towards the close of a long life, and although Arnold Ridley was Private Godfrey, Private Godfrey was not Arnold Ridley.
From humble beginnings living above the family boot-shop in Bath, through the horrors of the Great War, to the life of a celebrated playwright in Londons West End. From unprecedented success and sudden wealth to unforeseen disaster and financial ruin. From the nightmare of another war through painful years of struggle and obscurity to a new, late-flowering fame in a television classic. Anecdotal, engaging, and truthful, Godfreys Ghost is an affectionate - and often moving - portrait of a remarkable man who, faced with more than his fair share of lifes vicissitudes, through love, courage, and the kind of well-grounded philosophy that doesnt recognise itself as such, lived his life valiantly and well.
This production is read by Nicholas Ridley and Terry Molloy.
    Members Reviews:
Poor self indulgent than depicting a career
I knew bits of his life from the writting of the Ghost train, but wanted to build a better picture of his early life rather than the long winded testament of an aging father to young son from Nicholas. I loved all charactors from the Dads Army series and would relish a complete memoir of all, especially John Lawrie
