In Day 36 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dig in to Matthew 24:36-44.

Dear brothers and sisters, 

Today’s scripture, “No One Knows the Day or Hour” Matthew 24:36-44, is just one of so many powerful scriptures in the Gospels that chronicled the events that occurred over 2000 years ago today, Holy Tuesday.

As we prepared this episode of the podcast, we dove in and combed through the scriptures from the day’s events.  We compared the accounts of each event in each of the Gospels. As we did, we felt the Holy Spirit nudge us to share this particular scripture.

We will be discussing a few of the events of the day on today’s podcast and would love to have you join us there, and invite you to also do a deeper dive in a review of the accounts of these events in the Gospels. 36“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”  Matthew 24:36-44 NKJV

In Day 35 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with ⁠Mark 11:12-14, 20-23.

Dear brothers and sisters, 

We hope you had an amazing Palm Sunday to kick off the annual celebration of the Resurrection Week of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We can find the genesis of the story of Palm Sunday in each one of the Gospels. Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19 all chronicle the amazing fulfillment of that wonderful prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 which foretold the very coming of Jesus into Jerusalem over 500 years before it happened!

“Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9 NKJV

Join us on Wednesday’s podcast where we will discover one of the most astounding prophecies in all of the bible pointed to in the Luke 19 passage above.

Those living under the Law of Moses, the Old Law, were required to follow a very strict set of 613 commandments, which were in reality, simply impossible to keep. Most often not obeying the Law was punishable by death and, when atonement was allowed, it did not remove the sin, but simply covered the sin. Sinners would continue to carry the weight and shame of the sin.

The feeling of joy a bride and groom feel on their wedding day, in the presence of God, is probably the closest thing in our earthly realm to how Jesus must feel when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. He loves us so much that He willingly gave His life at the cross to become the atonement for our sin, salvation, and the way to righteousness. 

We invite you to settle in for a bit and join us as we chat about today’s scripture, dive a little deeper and discover the truth of Isaiah’s vision and what we need to do to receive this most precious gift from Jesus--to be clothed in garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness. Dear brothers and sisters,

What a beautiful scripture we have today; it speaks of the greatest gift we could ever hope to receive —adoption as God’s son or daughter, unity, becoming an insider, belonging, uniting, inclusion and belonging to God’s family.  All we need to do to receive this gift is to believe in Jesus Christ.

Have you have ever heard the term “Gotcha Day”, a day that adoptive parents use to celebrate the anniversary of the day their adoption of a son or daughter is finalized and legal?  If you have ever known someone going through the adoption process, you might have witnessed how exciting, emotional and wonderful that day is to both adoptive parents and the child(ren) they are adopting. The adoption process can often be arduous, lengthy, trying and sometimes met with sadness when an adoption doesn’t go through.  It can be a gut wrenching and challenging time for parents, but when adoptive parents believe and have faith, is so rewarding when it is finally completed, legal and sealed, and they can say “Gotcha!” to the new addition to their family.

One of the things we talk about frequently in the modern-day church is the word and concept of 'Salvation'. In Day 28 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we are looking at Isaiah 53:5 NKJV.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today’s scripture is one of our favorite scriptures and the concepts within align with our ministry purpose and pillars.

A bookend to tomorrow’s 1 Peter 2:24 scripture Isaiah 53:5 provides us, looking forward, with hope, a “living hope” with the prophecy of Jesus’ coming.  Some 700 years before Jesus entered this world as man, Isaiah prophesied His coming and His atonement for the sin of mankind.

In Day 27 of "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we look at Romans 8:33-34 NKJV.

Dear brothers & sisters,

Oh man, we are so glad that Romans 8 exists in every Bible in the world. This whole chapter is SO GOOD! Today’s reading of verses 33 & 34 are NO exception.

We have talked a lot, over the last few weeks, about condemnation and feeling unworthy for God to use us in His great master plan for the world.  Today’s verse really drives home the point that there is NO condemnation, EVER, for His kids.

We invite you to look at the first verse in today’s scripture reading, Romans 8:33 NKJV…

33 “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.”

This point alone should forever lay to rest every internal condemning or accusing thought we have as well as every condemning or accusing word spoken by anyone else against us.
