We examine the lyrics and music video, and the reactions of those who both support and oppose it. We also try to frame the song in a more historical context by comparing it with sexually empowering songs by female artists from the past, and we conduct a gendered cross-examination by reading some of the lyrics from sexually explicit songs by male artists. After listening to this podcast, one thing should be abundantly clear; we seriously love this song!
