The narration of Christopher Ragland is as part of the characters as Kevin Hearne for me. He continues to alternate between the three of them, and it's clear which one you're following. the warmth and familiarity his story telling is a joy to listen to.

I have never been interested in writing a review before however the adventures of Atticus, Granuaile and Owen have compelled be to share my love of these stories. the characters, places and mythology woven throughout out the series keeps me listening and wanting to know what next!

Absolutely Delightful!!

When I saw that this book was about an alligator, I wanted to read it. I'm so glad that I was drawn in by both the cover and the title. This is a delightful story about the ups and downs of a young married couple, the wife's pet alligator (not a crocodile!!) named Albert, and the attempt to return him to the wild. Believe me when I say it is quite a journey.

If we are to believe this "Somewhat True Story", we meet many amazing characters along the way, including Buddy Ebsen, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and more. Such fun. I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narration perfectly captured the tone of the book.

I plan to read more by Homer Hickam soon.

Loved it! I started listening to it again as soon as I finished the story. Even better the second time. It was wonderful to get to see the parents as a couple instead of only as "the parents." I would love to know where the fact ends and the fiction begins.

Wolf wilder

This has been my favourite book so far and I can't wait to read more from Katherine rundell. As someone who understands wolves this book made me feel happy and inspired to make a difference in the world.As well as the way she made the character so easy to relate to and it almost makes it feel as though this story is true and did happen sometime a long time ago so thankyou for the time and effort.

This was a really good book! I liked the way it was very tense and exciting but with a happy ending. My favourite character is Theo, and my favourite part is the revolution. I recommend this for age 10+... or super smart 8 year olds like me!

Beautiful story full of emotion and courage which can melt your heart and you'll fall in love with Theo Elia and and despise Rackoff.

Can't say enough good things about this

Many reviewers have commented that this book seems to be plotless. I disagree. Though yes, it certainly focuses more on the characters and their relationships rather than the traditional plot, it still has a beginning, middle and end and is incredible. I never wanted to press the pause button. The performance was great as well, and I was at first glad to see she reads the next book, a closed and common orbit. I just pray audible gets the rites to sell it in Canada, because I very much want to read it and would rather not read the IBook. I fact I don't think I will.

I read this book a while ago and used the audiobook to refresh my mind before digging into the second one. I love it the first read through and I think I now live it even more.

Good little sci-fi book, more about relationships

Good little sci-fi book that deals more with the relationships between people (and species) than with space battles or even space travel. While yes, it all happens in space and is about space travel, it was a really interesting look into how a crew of very mixed characters would get along and make it through challenges together. The narrator for this book was also a major factor of me rating it this high. She did the human voices exactly as I'd imagine them and the alien ones were funny and strange, just like sci-fi should be. One good thing about the book was it made me compare the situations in the plot to the real world I live in, which is what good sci-fi should do. There were a lot of easily-identifiable situations, relationships and choices. But there were also things that, when you read deeper, were great insights into life.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It is an excellent book based on the remarkable life of Berylk Markham. It has everyithing abandonment by a mother adoring a father not just coping but managing her life. Romance tragedy survival against all odds. A life as interesting if not more so than that of Karen Bliksen and Her Out of Africa book.

Fascinating story, narration almost unbearable!

I almost gave up listening several times, despite being gripped by the real life story of Beryl Markham, who lived an extraordinary life in Africa, contemperary of the more famous Karen Blixen (Out of Africa). Unfortunately I found the narrator extremely off-putting, over-enunciating and way too 'put on posh' for my taste, and what I believe would suit the story.

Clever plotline multilayered story

This is a very clever plot with fascinating characters. Just when you think you have it worked out it takes a right angle bend and you realise you haven't. I recommend it it's a great listen.

An improvement from the last.

New narrator makes it more engaging, though I can't quite grasp how the Prior has ceased to be Glaswegian - stroke perhaps, that left him with a "foreign" accent? - that can happen, a reverse miracle if you like.

The story has obvious "hooks" to grab those even slightly aware of the recent history of the Catholic Church; the diocese of Boston, the handyman with a false identity/past (cf Peter Tobin), and monks in Ealing....There are some twists though, and it's not all gloom like his last book. Just have to pray enough change has been made that stories like this will be historical, not topical. Miserere nobis.

Dreams Die First will appeal to people who like reading material that is close to reality. If you like reading fiction that doesn't have a feel of fiction in it but takes you to the era where and when the book was written, this book is for you.

I have read most of the work by Harold Robbins and I can tell you that this is the BEST. In fact the more popular " Never love a stranger" comes second.

The story is about a young man who is living on social security and then with a little help from his uncle he reaches the height of pornography publishing. He gets success, and wealth but all at a price.

Dreams Die First will definitely leave mark somewhere on your heart. I can say this, because even after reading so many novels, this one remains my favorite. This may sound like a personal view but I came across many people those who just loved this book.

Also, many people have complained about this book being substitute to a porn book, but I strongly disagree, if you have read about Harold Robbins or his work, you will know that his work anything but pornography. It's just the attention to details and the explicit way of explaining the situations.

He was a great writer and so is his work!

Another great book by Robbins, my favorite author.

Riveting!

That s book was unbelievable. So much going on and you never lose track. I love a fast pace page turner you never want to put down.

Compellingly readable. Ridiculous

As a historical artifact indicating how we got to Jackie Collins and James Patterson it is interesting and if you like their books, you will find much to like in their progenitor. Sex, violence, continuous rolling crises, drugs and did I mention sex? Not much substance, or lessons that can be applied to one's own life, but that is not the point. Compellingly readable. Ridiculous.

Harold Robbins' most sexually explicit novel

In my opinion the best novel by Harold Robbins. Very sexually explicit even by the author's standards. Tense and suspenseful too. A must read.

Elsa is my hero!

What made the experience of listening to My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises the most enjoyable?

The characters! So vividly described. You can't help but root for each one of them. Especially Elsa and Granny.

Elsa because of her courage and her wisdom despite being almost eight years-old. And Granny because she's mad in the best possible way.

I love everything by Fredrik Backman so far, all two of his audiobooks The first one was "A Man Called Ove" and this one is my second purchase. Looking forward to more great works by this brilliant author and the talented narrator too.

As the story unfolds it grips you, a wonderful complex story which keeps you interested to the last 'page'. The narration is delightful.

Irresistible, Funny and Delectable

The book starts off with some laugh-out-humour which makes you think, "hmmm, just what the doctor ordered."

At this point too, I thought, my 12 year old needs to be in on this so, I let him listen to a few chapters and confirmed its a book for both young adults and adults. However, it is not long into the book when the fairly complex and very childlike fairytales seem to take over the real story.
