Adorable!
This is an adorable book. I received my copy today and my 5 year old loved it! What a cute story. He loved seeing Penelope's house get more and more crowded with penguins and enjoyed counting the penguins on each page. He giggled at several of the illustrations. He was also surprised to find out how many countries the penguins came from. My older sons enjoyed the learning activities at the back. I definitely recommend this book!
Great book for children!
Very well written. Story is easy and clear for a child to read and understand. Can be read to a young child, or great book for early readers to practice reading. Love the aspect of using a different species of Penguin for each segment. Also love the fact that there are additional educationally based activities at the end of the book!

The Penguin Lady is the whimsical tale of Penelope Parker, a woman who lives in a little white house with black trim, located on Penguin Place. She always dresses in her favorite colors: black and white . . . and just happens to walk with a waddle.
One year on her birthday, her brother sends her a penguin from the Galapagos Islands. Then her sister sends her two penguins from Argentina. The newspaper prints a story about her, and soon people begin sending her orphaned penguins from all over the southern hemisphere of the world. Eventually, more and more penguins begin to appear at her doorstep as the numbers increase progressively up to ten.
This amusing book, with fanciful illustrations, will allure and entertain, while offering educational opportunities to compare and contrast, count, and learn about geographical regions of the world.

Penelope Parker was fond of penguins. Well, maybe she was crazy about them. She had bright, sparkling eyes and was dressed in black and white flowered overalls. Why even her house at 3316 Penguin Place was a black and white haven for little penguins. Penelope was so much like a penguin she "even waddled when she walked." Her brother sent her a snoopy penguin from the Galapagos Islands for her birthday. The penguin peered into her mirror and practically emptied her toothpaste tube all over it when he stepped on it. Out! Out! Off to the garage he went.
Her family, who knew she loved penguins, decided to give her more. Two Rockhopper penguins from Argentina decided to join Penelope's family at the dinner table. My, didn't those potatoes look good! Off to the garage they went. After three Chinstrap penguins from Antarctica arrived the "local newspaper heard about them and sent a reporter to write a story about Penelope and the Penguins." Soon it began to be a regular old penguin parade at 3316 Penguin Place. What in the world was Penelope possibly going to do with all those penguins?
