    Outdated
Reread this recently and I can't believe how simply boring it was. Short and sweet, but completely outdated.
    Straight shooting challenging insight.
I've listened to this book at least twice. I'm glad he reads his own book as it brings out his dry sarcastic way of telling the truth.
Great, if short, guide to the way forward
Great info and he's an inspiring person. Could have been slightly more in-depth, but, then again, he does seem to cover the necessary parts.
    It was OK
I was expecting something different ... It wasn't WOW.
I felt it was a bit messy.

Title: There's No Such Thing as "Business" Ethics
    Author: John C. Maxwell

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 39 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-12-03
    Publisher: Hachette Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 80 votes
    Genres: Business, Career Skills
    Publisher's Summary:
How does a person judge what is ethical? Sometimes it's clear. You know Enron's leaders were in the wrong. But is it always easy to see where the line is in your life? What's the standard? And can it work in all situations? John C. Maxwell thinks it can. When the New York Times best-selling author, successful businessman, and former pastor was asked about his thoughts on business ethics, his response was, "There's no such thing. There's only ethics."
Maxwell asserts there's one ethical standard for all behavior. And you might be surprised by what it's based on. Did you know that a variation of the Golden Rule exists in every major religion? In There's No Such Thing as Business Ethics, Maxwell shows how people can live with integrity by using the Golden Rule as their standard (regardless of religion, culture, or circumstances). Along the way, he delves into the desires of the human heart, reveals the five most common causes that get people off track ethically, and teaches how to develop the Midas touch when it comes to integrity.

    Thought-provoking, useful read (listen)
Found this book interesting, well-narrated and thoughtful. Great examples and a consistent approach to dealing with ethical issues. This book will be a hard read for those who wish to shrug off any responsibility for consequences of business decision...but a useful guide for those who believe it necessary to assume responsibility.
A must for all levels of business people.
I thought this book really hit home as far as understanding how and why some people choose the wrong path in business. There are some that are so concerned with the profits that they forget their core values and the "golden rule". This is a nice reminder of right & wrong and makes you step back, look at yourself and see if you have crossed the line either knowingly or unknowingly!
    So simple, yet so rare.
Business is now so cutthroat that it seems the competition is not only with other companies, it is also within the company. As a result people stop treating others with respect and dignity. This book explains how we should behave in a manner that is so simple, yet so rare.
    Golden Rule
The entire premise of the book is about the golden rule. A subject we all could stand to remember from time to time.
    Really, Really Basic
I don't know why I expected more from a book with such an obvious title, but I did. The book did not meet even my lowest expectations. In actuality this this book doesn't venture beyond "do unto others..."
That said, it's really a shame the author didn't discuss the eroding of ethics in business. There is such a thing as business ethics. Is it ethical to to move your manufacturing to China? Why not? It enhances the the value of the holdings of the stakeholders. Isn't that doing unto you? But what about the workers? We just DO them.
I'm afraid life isn't so simple as this semi-religious rehash would have you believe. Save the $5 or whatever it costs now.

OK to read but not a complete fiverr guide.
The narrator was easy to follow. The book was OK but covers specific things.
    Great for the total newbie
This is a great book for somebody who is very new to fiver.com
I would suggest though, that the book has links to the resources that the reader is being told to use.
These resources would include things like the letter that used to solicit businesses for yelp reviews and so forth, and perhaps any other kind of workbook type documentation or checklist documentation that would go A long way to supporting the book.
A great first effort, nonetheless! Regards,
    Ron

I've been on both sides of the "laid off" scenario. I've had to let people go, and I've been let go. I tell my own stories of being laid off, and how I went on very successfully from there, but more importantly, I share the technology I developed in my book, The Science of Making Things Happen: Turn Any Possibility into Reality, a clearcut guide to applying today's latest discoveries in a variety of sciences-quantum physics, neurology, biology-to amplifying your dreamed of possibilities into reality.
In this easily digestible guide, you will learn how to overcome fear and move past other negative emotions; get yourself aligned with your intentions; show up in a relevant and you-must-have-me way; create a tsunami of opportunity; break the present to make room for the future, and create confidence so strong it will become your armor, no matter what the outside world is showing you.

    Worth its weight in gold!
I love this book. I couldn't read it fast enough the first time--it is well written, well organized, and easily understood. There are many useful examples of women who have successfully branded themselves using a variety of strategies. The 8 steps suggested by the author for defining your personal brand identity are within anyone's grasp. That's the beauty of the book--you don't need a big hunk of startup capital, you don't need a PhD, you don't need to aspire to a six figure income. Anyone can jump RIGHT IN and use the principles today. I have begun the process and find it very do-able even in the context of an insanely busy life. It is forcing me to think more clearly about my business goals and really define what I am offering to my customers. It is equally applicable to someone on a career path within a company as it is to a small business start-up like mine. Highly recommended...wish I could give it 25 stars. Amongst all the business books out there, this one provides the missing piece that can really help you differentiate what you offer to your employer or customer and maybe more importantly--the value or benefit THEY perceive will come from working with you.
Couldn't wait to share with other recent grads!
I bought this book after I started working in marketing for a large and recognizable brand name straight out of college.

    Yum mania
Book should have been titled "Yum Brands," not Customer Mania. Nothing more than a documentary on Yum Brands (or maybe advertisement for their stock). Some good ideas, but nothing new. I guess I'm just a Jim Collins fan. I wish Ken could have studied a good half dozen different companies looking for great customer service.
    Customer First Culture
A great way to create a customer first culture in a company. The power of creating raving fans by treating your people right is so powerful.
    This book is right on!
Ken Blanchard is not only a great author, but a great narrator too. This book re-opened my eyes to becoming a more successful, people-focused leader and company. I have required all of our top management to listen/read this book. Enjoy!
    Fascinating Insight
The book provides an fascinating insight into the world of big business. It particularly focuses on a large multinational food chain, so if you are looking for something that resonates with a small business this might not be the book for you. Having said that, there are loads of useful tips and ideas that would help businesses of any size.

  • The Stress Effect: Why Smart Leaders Make Dumb Decisions - And What to Do About It Audiobook by Henry L. Thompson

Title: The Stress Effect: Why Smart Leaders Make Dumb Decisions - And What to Do About It
    Author: Henry L. Thompson
    Narrator: David Drummond
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 39 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-07-12
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 4 votes
    Genres: Business, Career Skills
    Publisher's Summary:
Reveals the powerful and undermining effects of stress on good decision making-and what leaders can do about it. The ability to make sound and timely decisions is the mark of a good leader. But when leaders with otherwise strong track records suddenly begin making poor decisions-as seen in the recent corporate scandals that rocked the business world-the impact can be widespread. In The Stress Effect, leadership expert Henry L. Thompson argues that stress is often the real culprit behind this leadership failure: when leaders' stress levels become sufficiently elevated - whether in the boardroom or on the front line of a manufacturing process - their ability to effectively use their emotional intelligence and cognitive ability in tandem to make wise decisions is significantly impaired. Until now, experts have argued that increasing your emotional intelligence will help you cope with and manage stress. This book suggests that stress actually blocks access to your emotional intelligence as well as your cognitive ability, two critical components in the decision-making process.
A groundbreaking and insightful resource for leaders, The Stress Effect reopens the dialogue on stress, its effect on decision making, and what to do about it.
    Members Reviews:
Will appeal to the leader in everyone - interesting and valuable insight
Dr. Thompson has gathered up an exquisite, bone-deep understanding of the science of leadership and how the efficacy of the decision-making process is vulnerable when the leader is under extreme stress. The book is thorough and as rich and complex as the expert needs it to be. It's also very easy for the lay person to latch onto swiftly. I expected it to be more theory than practice and in fact, it's both. Dr. Thompson's ARSENAL for developing a stress-resilient system (his seven best pratices) should be embraced by every professional in the working world - whether she's flying an F-18 or teaching kindergarden. Dr. Thompson shakes up the decision-making snow globe and shows us some very real hob goblins that may prohibit our high performing leaders from making best choices: Emotions, sleep deprivation, the "chemical bath", the evil twin, the crazy threshold. He stresses the importance of training our future leaders to be masters of decision-making and capable of performing in all conditions. Amazingly, he manages to do so without giving us vertigo. What he does provide is invaluable insight and the blueprint for helping to build successful leaders.
    Five Stars
    Excellent
    Five Stars
    It is interesting book
    Dense Book for Solid Leaders
Stress and tension cause smart people to make stupid decisions. I doubt that surprises anyone. What surprises me, however, is how many studies and experiences prove that the answers to paralyzing stress are fairly simple for anyone with a solid head on their shoulders. Henry L. Thompson presents the tools and techniques that let leaders keep their cool and make decisions even under the most adverse circumstances.
This information-dense book provides more knowledge and detail than you may have ever realized you need to ensure good decisions when the world turns against you. Thompson starts with a dense exposition of how stress causes poor decisions. His anchor point is Captain Sullenberger and his Miracle on the Hudson.
