Prayer is primarily a private matter, but we are in this game called life together.

Chris White digs down into the concept of praying to the heavenly father. We can go directly into the presence of God through prayer, but we need the right approach. The Lord’s Prayer is an intimate prayer conducted with reverence and awe. Prayer requires skill and willful thought.

Jesus prays, “Hallowed be your name.” He wants his father to be given the space, the position, that he deserves. Prayer begins with praise of God as nothing will happen without God. Because of your story, what space do people assign to God?

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” Jesus wants us to add militancy, a fervor, to our prayers. If God’s will is done on earth, His Kingdom will have come to earth. This is a dream, a hope, that Jesus is calling for. It is a dream worth dying for.

“Give us today our daily bread.” Jesus teaches us to let God build a track record with us. The more we come to God the more we trust God. Like Manna which means, “What is it?” people who trust God can’t explain it. His compassion never fails. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

The Lord’s Prayer teaches us to be radical forgivers. Jesus says, “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgive our debtors.” We don’t have a choice in light of what Jesus has done for us.

We are vulnerable without the Lord’s protection. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are Satan’s tool, but with God’s protection we shall have life, and have it to the full.

The last portion of the Lord’s prayer concludes the prayer with praise and adoration. In light of all the things God has promised us, our response can only be to praise him.
