The WORST!

I bought "Get Talking Dutch in Ten Days" with a Audible credit and I'm glad I didn't spend any money on it! I've been using the Pimsleur course and working with a native Dutch tutor, but I wanted something to get some useful phrases in my head quickly. This series is THE WORST I've ever heard. The speaker says the words only once. There is no repetition. There is no interval for you to repeat the words. And they never go back. You retain nothing. It's gone as soon as you hear it once. You learn nothing. I don't know what self-respecting language teacher would think this is a good idea because it goes against every necessity of language learning I've ever heard. And I am a person who speaks 8 languages!

If you want quick and easy Dutch, get Earworms Rapid Dutch. This "Get Talking" series is horrible.

Yes. This is a book that you will always return to as learning and maintaining a new language always needs revision and constant practice.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

What does Teach Yourself Languages bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?

You get the chance to hear and try the correct pronunciation for the words and phrases. As you listen to more and more of the language, you begin to recognise words that you have learned previously.

Lesson 1: numbers (went on and on)

3: months of the year

4: fell asleep and deleted it off my iPod when I woke up

Sorry, but this was the worst Dutch course I have tried (and there have been several). Maybe it gets better, but life's too short to find out, in my opinion.
