âWe forgot to ask you If we could go. We wonât do it again, Now we both know.â
San Diego, California Author Leela Hope studied English Literature at Berkeley, earning a degree in 1989. Her writing covers a span of several genres, but she always returns to her first love, children's fiction. And it is there that her star shines brightest. Always finding something unique on which to base her stories, she makes each tale a learning experience for children as well as offering some pointers for parenting!
In this series of books written for preschool children â JAROD GIRAFFE GETS LOST â and is a family oriented little book, but the family is one of giraffes! Jarod Giraffe and his big brother Ned decide to go play in the park â on the swings and then go to the creek for drink of water. They see a Fair up the road and run off to have fun riding cars, playing on the slide, and winning a ball toss. They have fun but when it is time to go home they are lost. A friendly policeman approaches and tells them their parents are looking for them and drives them home and their parents are happy to see them but the brothers know they have learned a fine lesson.
This book illustrates the need for communication with family when planning to go somewhere new. Rules are made out of love and for safety! As always Leela Hope does not force her message. She just drops it at our feet (along with some wonderful illustrations) and leaves the emphasis up to parents. This is another lovely book from the talented Leela Hope. Grady Harp, January 18
Oh What Fun!
Do you like to play outside? Do you have a particular friend you like to play with?
Leela Hope has writte; another fun story about the Giraffe brothers, Ned and Jarod. One morning Ned woke Jarod up and told him it was time to go out and play. They had a great time, and then they got very thirsty, and they went to the creek to drink. The water tasted so good. When they looked up, they saw a Fair down the road. Letâs go, they both thought and off they went. When you read this book, you will find out what happens next.
This is a story with a lesson to be learned. Adults will like this, and after they read the book to their children, they can discuss the lessons learned. The book is written in rhyme, and that is one of the most fun and interesting methods to read a book. The illustrations are bright, colorful and appealing. They describe the fun and adventures the Giraffe brothers had that day. A good book for all.
