“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” —Jeremiah 29:13

“Amen! Amen!” Jesus often said. However, the New International Version of the Bible translates it, “I tell you the truth.” “Amen” means “It’s true! It shall be so! Right on! Verily! Verily! So be it! I’m not lying to you! I’ll stake my life on it!”

The Lord’s Prayer ends in a shout! Although this short hymn of praise (a doxology) is not in a part of the Lord’s Prayer, it’s an appropriate traditional testimony to God’s greatness.

As Christians, our lives are no safe harbor. So we pray, “Deliver us from evil!” The good news is that Jesus will eventually deliver us “to a land where we’ll never grow old” (Revelation 21:4).

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” —James 4:7

“Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life…” —Phil. 2:14-16a

C. S. Lewis once commented, “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive.” The slaughter of Amish children, the Oklahoma City bombing, 9/11…there’s a lot to forgive out there. How do we do it?

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” —James 1:17

What’s God’s will for your life? While we don't know every detail about God’s will for our lives, we know he blesses obedience to his commands and “wants all to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).

When we pray, “Your kingdom come” we’re inviting the Lord to walk into our world and dwell in our hearts. We’re praying for the Lord to help us make an impact on the world so all may “repent and believe the good news” of Jesus.
