Loved the ending

This was a great ending to the Trylle Trilogy. Everything was all wrapped up with a bow on top. Even though I thought the series started off weak, it ended strong and overall I really enjoyed it. If you love HEA endings this is the series for you.

Yes and I have. I recommend this book series to anyone that likes a good fun and quick read. Especially if they are into fairy tale stuff.

I loved the last few chapters that left a the reader feeling complete and not guessing about what happened after.

Excellent Series

A very good series that has a spin that keeps you coming back for more.

Once again the dialog between characters was difficult as it seemed they never get to the point but continue to talk in circles like everyone assumes everyone knows what is going on. Other than that I found the book delightful.

Wendy is faced with the loss of her mother, the overbearing force of her farther killing off her kingdom and trying to please people who have no faith in her. Making sacrifices is not easy when the mass is not on her side. But running away is not an option anymore and she tries to figure out how to save her kingdom without the loss of life to her people.

Yes. The Trylle Trilogy was incredible. Amanda really knows how to captivate those who love phantasy stories. I could not wait to listen to the the last book of the serie. The three books were wonderfully written and captivate you. The ending was amazing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ascend?

It was when Wendy finally admits loving Loki and spends the night with Loki during a time of a lot despair.

Yes. Is listened to Torn. In both cases the performance was excellent.

Fun easy listening

If you could sum up Crater in three words, what would they be?

It's not high brow, fancy, super deep and it's fun, easy and perfect for a great drive on a long trip. I got into it.

Disappointing

I purchased Crater expecting a fun space adventure and a step away from the norm for me. It may have been a change of pace for me but it was boring. I had to push myself through this book and contemplated giving up several times. I dont even know where to begin. It lacked direction, good characters, and life in general. On top of that, the moon was a dismal setting and the author provided zero description to make it an intriguing place. I think this book might have been meant for younger children as the story was childish and at times cheesy. However, I dont see how middle school aged kid would even have the attention span to read this book.

The moon also holds a valuable resource, Helium 3, and as a result Earth colonies and mining centers have been established to tap into this profitable resource. Crater Trueblood is an orphan boy who works on one of the moon mines and for the most part is content with his life. Keeping him company is an intelligent slime mold creature (Gillie), the only thing his parents left him, and a friend named Petro, who often times isnt a very good friend to Crater. Crater gets called to the office of the Commander and is sent on a mission to protect some precious cargo on a caravan across the moon. Little does Crater know that the Commander picked him specifically for the mission because he wanted someone naive. Crater gets thrown into a lot of dangerous situations but with the help of the Gillie and his charm he manages to find a way through them all.

Lets start with Crater. He is honest and nice but naive. Hes so naive that everyone around him gets frustrated by his innocence. Hes clearly the hero from the beginning because hes always out to help others and work as hard as he can. He also likes to work hard even if people are taking advantage of him and is content to and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, even when they are holding him at gunpoint. For me Crater was so likeable, he was hard to like. Too good. Too nice. Too innocent. My eyes rolled every time he opened his mouth. I like main characters that have a few flaws and a little bit of an edge. He grew a little bit of spine at the end of the book but I was so tired of him by that point that I just wasnt impressed.

We have really enjoyed this series. Sabrina is really a torn soul and her sister, Daphne, is a family joy. Punk is absolutely GRAVY and we have laughed out loud more than once.

We are somewhat sad to see this series go, the cliff hangers were really getting to us because we were ready before the book was released. Now that all the books are complete and ready to listen (in order) we think any family time can certainly be improved by listening to an audio book together.

If you don't mind staying in the Young Adult section, may we suggest Bras and Broomsticks? If you have a need to go on to the adult section, may we suggest David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series? Our entertainment side goes for funny. Both side routes will have you laughing!

Yes, I've listened to the entire Sisters Grimm series. L. J. Ganser did as well with this book as he has with the entire series. He's no Jim Dale (Harry Potter US version, Petter and the Starcatchers, etc.), but then, nobody is. His performance brings the story to life and makes for a fun listen on road trips.

This series is, to me, one book too long. The last book and this one should have been condensed into a single book, and then the series would have been just right. These last two books just seemed to drag compared with the others, but overall, the series is fun, imaginative, and very much worth listening to / reading, especially if you have children between 8 and 15 to enjoy it with. I'm in my 40's, and I still enjoyed it a lot. Each book has its own story that keeps them from being "more of the same" (for the most part), but there is a deeper story line running throughout the series that makes you want to keep going with the next book. I said above that the series is one book too long because the last two books depart from this pattern, and they both really only deal with the overall series story line, so they rely heavily on each other to tell the story. The others can be enjoyed by themselves.The series-long story is full of twists and turns, taking the listener on a ride that is fun and sometimes surprising.

Heartfelt teen murder-mystery

What was one of the most memorable moments of Jasper Jones?

The main character's mention of To Kill a Mockingbird draws an obvious parallel to this novel.

Great Aussie Romp

This is one of the best modern Australian novels according to several lists. The main characters are highschool age and it probably should be classified as a young adult read but its vivid action kept this elder absorbed to the last line. It's a contemporary murder mystery with a Huck Finn character at centre and plenty of trendy social problems such as sexual abuse of children and philandering parents. The hero's mother is one of the most refreshingly nasty female characters I've encountered in a good while. It's read with appropriate nasal twanging and the odd roo thumping around but apart from that could have taken place in any North American small town--except for the many long unintelligible accounts of cricket games. I would happily read another book by Mr. Silvey.

This book would have been better without the vulgar language. A WARNING would have been appreciated!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I bought this for my 5th grade son and me to listen to on the road. I was quite surprised by the language. I tried to overlook the language at first, because we had become very interested in the story. However, I couldn't continue listening in good conscience since we are oppposed to the use of that language.

Light and Fun!

I never expected this series to be so entertaining and addictive when I first bought Switched. The characters are interesting and the plot twists arent as predictable as most in this genre. However, this book is not for everyone. Its like The Princess Diaries with trolls in it. If you are looking for something lighthearted and fun, this book would be a great choice, but if youre looking for something darker and more intense, I would suggest The Vampire Academy Series or The Infernal Devices Trilogy.

Beautifully told!

Whe I first listened to this book, I thought I wasn't going to like the narrator. But I ended up LOVING HER and the story! While it's a little "young reader" and the main character does make some silly descisions I truly loved this story... It was beautiful and I read all three it was so good!

Definitely recommend if you like Young Adult/Teen Syfy Fantasy.

The Princess Diaries with trolls

Overall this was just an ok listen for me. There wasn't anything really wrong with the book, but I just didn't care for the writing style. In my opinion there are better books out there in the YA fantasy/romance category.

The narration was really good, which is mostly why I kept listening to this one until the end. This wasn't my favorite book but it wasn't the worst either.

Overall 3 stars for me.

GREAT LISTEN

The narration was superb. I found myself getting really caught up in the story visualizing and truly disliking some of the characters. This must be what it was like years ago to gather round the radio and listen to the weekly series. Another great listen from Patterson and Dembowski.

Worth the listen

What did you love best about Witch & Wizard: The Fire?

It was a very exciing, compelling story that moved quickly, was different than anything I have read before and highlights the value of a loving family and good friends.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Whit healed Wisty and realized he had the gift of healing, and they shared Christmas with Pearl Marie's family and remembered how much they still had.

This is the third and final book in a trilogy that takes the classic struggle of good and evil to another level. Brother and sister team Wisteria and Whitford Allgood learn they are gifted in ways they never imagined. Wisty is a Witch and Whit is a Wizzard, and those closest to them are disapearing. They learn abruptly when The One Who is The One and his followers appear in their home one night (in the first book) to arrest them. They escape but their parents do not. Whit learns that his girlfriend, Celia, who had gone missing several months before, was taken to get to him and Wisty, and she was tortured and killed and now exists in the Shadow Lands. She makes occasional appearances to save the siblings from life and death situations because a prophecy identifies them as the only hope for defeating a The One, who is a Hitler-like dictator. The One is obsessed with capturing the Allgood children alive because he wants to posess their gifts. There are death squads throughout the land seeking to destroy creativity. Children seem to be the ones mainly targeted. Wisty and Whit join the resistance, a group of children who try to fight the suprnatural forces of evil. I won't tell you how good overcomes evil, because that is too much of a spoiler, but good does triumph. It is an amazing story and well told. Character development is excellent and the author mixes humor into the horror to keep it compelling. The narrators were well chosen to tell the story. Their voices are filled with passion, emotion and are very easy to listen to.

I still remember being so excited to read Lola when it was first released back in 2011. I loved Anna and the French Kiss and needed to get my hands on more of Stephanie Perkins writing. Although I think I liked Anna a tiny bit more than Lola (the books, not the actual characters), I still really enjoyed this book. Especially Cricket! Sadly, the release of Isla and the Happily Ever After has been pushed back so many times that I wont believe its out until I have an actual copy in my hands. I get that the book wasnt ready, but from a readers perspective it sucks. Especially after they changed the gorgeous covers! In preparation for Isla, I wanted to listen to the audiobook of one of the previous books. Since I hate accents (sorry St. Claire), I went with Lola and the Boy Next Door. I still loved this book as much as I did 3 years ago

Lola was such a fascinating character for me. Her mom didnt want her and gave her up to her brother and shes been raised by two dads. I loved how Lola was always so proud of her parents, even when she was annoyed at them. Lolas fun and quirky but her fashion side is what really made me connect with her. I could always visually all her outfits and would love to be able to see them in real life. Lola has a pretty cool job, some great friends, awesome parents and a hot, older rocker boyfriend, Max. But when the Bell twins move back into the house next door, Lolas life changes.

Lola and the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, were close growing up. Lola and Calliope were friends and Lola always had a crush for Cricket. Both those friendships ended on a bad note. But seeing Cricket again brings up all those old feelings of attraction and hurt all over again. Despite this, she ends up rekindling her friendship with Cricket. Even though they both obviously want more. But, Lola has a boyfriend and shes determined to stay with him. This was always such a frustrating part of the story for me. Lola obviously has strong feelings for Cricket, no matter how much she tries to deny it. Cricket lets her know more than once that he has feelings for Lola, but Lola is so stuck with her boyfriend who is an asshole. I couldnt see why she wanted to stay with Max and couldnt help thinking it was only because he was older and a musician. I was so annoyed at Lola, especially towards the end for how she treated Cricket and would string him along. Luckily, there was so damn much to love about Cricket that it made it easier to overlook my annoyance with Lola.

Ah, Cricket Bell. One of the rare and few good guys that make your heart melt. I probably liked his charcater more this time around.

Brilliant Cliffhanger

This book is a beautiful second book in the Fever Crumb series. Beautifully written with mystery, surprising twists and just a dash of romance. A sweet coming of age story in its own way.

Except for the ending.

After many hours of enjoyable listening, I was dismayed by the ending. I was simply unprepared for the book to end so abruptly. In my opinion the ending was a shocking and unwanted twist for these well developed and lovable characters. Hopefully there is a third book.

Steam Punk personified

Loved the book Fever Crumb by Philip Reeve. It was a wonderfully engrossing story that takes you into a world with steam punk styling and thought--fully fleshed and engaging with our intrepid heroine leading us on --to the end. It is a fun time and I cannot wait to listen to the next book in this series.
