Memorizing is going to kill your pitch.

I was watching Jimmy Fallon and a rapper named Lil’ Wayne was his guest and in addition to all of the awards and net worth of over 120MM while skateboarding and running a family of 4 he was preparing to perform one of his latest songs.

Fallon asked him how he memorizes his songs because his lyrics are intense and very verbose, fast, etc. In addition to having to perform many times and in front of the millions of people how does he remember all of those words?

This podcast is about video marketing.

The biggest myth out there is that it’s all about marketing and you want to get your video going.

The problem with this is that you either spend nothing and try and do it yourself and embarrass yourself and company and you waste months of hope and effort or you put off starting it and you lose months which could have been months of funding that was in your pocket or you spent $30,000 and get it done right but it’s wasted because you didn’t have all of your ducks in a row and you don’t get funded.

The real cost of not getting funded for any reason is how many months or years you’re losing. Depending on the value of your company and dollar amount of funding you’re going for, it could be costing you $500,000 or $1M or 100M the longer you wait, the more funds you spend in wasted areas, and the longer you don’t actually fix the problem.

The goal is to get to a place of balance so that you can pitch with confidence and clarity.

The myth is that by practicing 100's of times or by sharing your message in public will make it all ok. The truth is that if you're doing situps in a way that's damaging then if you do 1000's of them then you're going to end up with back pain instead of the strong stomach you're going for. The same thing happens with pitching and public speaking. The idea is making sure that you are in balance so that what you're presenting is appropriate in a way that is going to get you the outcome you want.
