Great reading

A really fun book to read. The story was compelling and the and characters were excellent. I will watch out for more books from this author.

Felony review

It was an easy but simple read. It was a fast read for a cruise or a day in the sun.

What a fun read!

I really enjoyed this book, the first third made think of "Coffee, Tea or Me", and I wondered where it was going. Having worked for a major airline, it held my interest. I then realized this was a set up to introduce the characters (who were well developed). The middle was like "Breaking Bad" in the air as you watch the very likable Grant evolve. Then the suspense and twists came fast and furious. I actually gasped out loud at one turn of events! Thoroughly entertaining!

A wild lifestyle

Suspense, intrigue, this book has it all. If someone is smart they'll make a movie out of it. Perfect ending for a sequel also!

Period novel that takes reader through the skies of America and into the den of enticement

Felony at 40,000 Feet is an easy and captivating read from beginning to end. The characters are well developed, and the plot features interesting twists and turns. This is a novel about opportunities taken and opportunities wasted. A screenplay would make for a most interesting movie.

Title: The Changing Season

Author: Steven Manchester

Narrator: Josh Hurley

Format: Unabridged

Length: 10 hrs and 36 mins

Language: English

Release date: 02-23-16

Publisher: Audible Studios

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes

Genres: Fiction, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

A remarkable coming-of-age story with special appeal to dog lovers.

This was supposed to be a simple summer for Billy - one more lazy expanse of time before college began. He'd fill the hours playing with Jimmy - his canine best buddy - going camping and doing all the things he promised Jimmy they'd do before Billy left.

But that was before the accident that shook the entire town. It was before the summer job that turned into something so much more than a way to get a paycheck. And it was before Vicki. This summer was destined to be many things to Billy, things he didn't truly understand until now. But it was definitely not going to be simple.

An enormously touching, richly textured, deeply moving novel of new adulthood, The Changing Season is an experience to savor.

Critic Reviews:

"The Changing Season is a story that will bring you back to that awkward period of time between childhood and adult life. I highly recommend this book." (Richard Paul Evans, number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Christmas Box and The Mistletoe Promise)

"Manchester's The Changing Season will be to young adults what Old Yeller is to my grandson." (Ed Asner, actor, Up, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant, Elf)

"The Changing Season is a thought-provoking coming-of-age tale that explores the complicated themes of love, faith, family and, above all, loyalty. Mr. Manchester's portrayal of a boy at the cusp of manhood is evocative and sympathetic." (Susan Wilson, New York Times best-selling author of One Good Dog)

Members Reviews:

Good narration that is defeated by average story

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Give it some more juice. I didn't care about any of the characters and I wanted to.

What was most disappointing about David Hagertys story?

Lack of character development. Good job on describing little nuances but almost too many of them. Seems whenever I would lose interest (I had to battle to stay focused enough to continue with the story) I would hear about some over-the-top description of some type of off-cuff action. Made me roll my eyes and press on.

Which scene was your favorite?

I didn't really have a favorite scene. I kept waiting for one with no pay-off.

Was They Tell Me You Are Wicked worth the listening time?

I don't think it was. Darren Todd did a good job of narrating. He even got better as the story went on. Unfortunately, the story didn't progress as he did.

Tedious to much detail

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A gripping story line. There was too much detail describing each scene. I wondered when I was going to get down to some sort of a story.

Would you ever listen to anything by Audrey Howard again?

No!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Shining Threads?

All of them needed to be condensed.

Any additional comments?

Not my cup of tea. If the author can not grasp my attention into wanting to read on, in the first couple "pages" Its not for me.

Another excellent novel by Audrey Howard

Loved this book. Very captivating and enthralling. Couldnt stop listening. Audrey is always my go to for Audible books.

When Death Comes Knocking

I recently read the first book in this series Minus One. This story takes place many years after the prior book. Drew Smith is now a well known criminal defense attorney. Drews personal life is in crisis between risky behaviors with hookers and he is having nightmares. Drews friend, police chief Washington suggests he see a therapist. After some debate he decided to see the suggested therapist. In his professional life a former girlfriend and her husband asked Drew to defend their son on a robbery and murder charge. A crazed gunman together with an exotic dancer, Drew broke off seeing, team up to bring Drew down. All this leads to an exciting story. The last part of the book has some good courtroom drama.

The story is well written and filled with intrigue and action. The plot twists back and forth between Drews personal and professional life. For some reason, I found the narrator, Zack Imbrognos voice irritating. He narrated the prior book Minus One and I do not remember having any problem listening to him then. I am looking forward to the next episode in this series.
