finally came after 6 months

INSPIRE YOUR BOYS TO READ!

It is so nice to see beginning reader books for boys. This book would fall into the catagory of a first chapter book. The chapters are only a couple of pages long, with large type and a picture every page or two. Girls will like it too, but my girl would be concerned about the flies (they get glued to a popsicle stick!). A nice book modeling doing something nice for someone else, in a funny, non-preachy way. This was the first of this series that we have read. I'll sure buy more! Thank you, Mr. Brouwer, for encouraging my son to read!

Great Story

I remembered this story from when I was a child. It was retold as I remember it, in a clean, simple way. I recommend it to anyone with a child 4-8 years of age.

The Brave Little Tailor

This is the most famous version of "The Brave Little Tailor." Although there are many countries around the world that have their own little tailor, his role stays the same. He is a cultural hero. For example, here in the states, he lived the American dream.

In the story, the little tailor, let's name him Bob, killed seven flies at once. He embroidered his great defeat on his girdle and people made assumptions that it was seven men, not flies. Throughout the story, Bob used his intellect and great use of trickery to receive half of unknown land and the always beautiful princess.

This is an awesome book for children to read. It could teach them that they don't have to be poor all of their lives. Yes, kids won't get the chance to trick a unicorn, a wild boar, and 3 dumb giants to get rich, but this story explains that using the ole noggin can get you places, just like Bob.

Perfectly captures the feel of the fable...

This is a quirky tale sure to delight, and provide surprising insights.

The story follows the strange, amusing journey of Tugli, a man who lives quite contentedly inside of metal box alongside a street in modern-day India. He's plagued by the generosity of an old lady who works at the restaurant down the street, who brings him bags of pungent pickles.

To his surprise, the one time he stashes the pickles atop his box (to prevent them from smelling up his tiny abode), they vanish. But things take a turn for the worse when the old lady stops bringing the goods...and the reason for the vanishing gifts - a disgruntled monkey - expresses his extreme displeasure.

Without giving too much away, this sends Tugli (whose patience is saintlike!) on a journey across India to find a new source of these specifically spiced pickles. And what he discovers will warm one's heart and teach some valuable lessons as to what's important in life.

'Monkey' perfectly captures the feel of a fable, and is suitable for all ages.
