Get Your Next Job Faster: Put it On the Calendar

In the last episode, I talked about the 5 elements of a successful job search project. In this episode, I'm focusing on the importance of getting the start date on your calendar and following that with a weekly cadence.

Tips:

  • Block that start date and protect it against all temptations, like opening an "urgent" email.
  • Create a schedule for the week (preferably on the Friday or Sunday before the week starts) so the time is blocked and protected from other activities.
  • Schedule your blocks during the time of day when you have the most energy. (Are you a lark or an owl).
  • Don't wait for inspiration! Inspiration comes by doing.
