RockerMike and Rob discuss Foghat.

­Formed in 1971 when Lonesome Dave Peverett & Roger Earl left the British blues-rock band, Savoy Brown, Foghat has earned eight Gold records, one Platinum record and one Double-Platinum record.  And they continue to release new music every few years. They have never stopped touring and recording although there have been several ups and downs and changes over the years.  They sadly lost Lonesome Dave Peverett in 2000 and Rod Price in 2005, but Roger Earl kept banging & kicking to keep Foghat’s musical legacy going. Foghat celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021, and their live performances show why the band is still around and why they will be able to keep on rockin’ as long as they want to play! Their music is timeless, and touring is part of their DNA. Foghat’s live show is as intense as ever with the incredible energy and musicianship that one would expect and hope for from a seasoned band with such a long musical history and they are bringing their fans along for the ride. These guys just love to play!

Nicholas Drain Lowe (born 24 March 1949) is a British singer-songwriter, musician and producer. A noted figure in power pop and new wave, Lowe has recorded a string of well-reviewed solo albums. Along with vocals, Lowe plays guitar, bass guitar, piano and harmonica. He is best known for the songs "Cruel to Be Kind" (a US Top 40 single) and "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" (a top 10 UK hit), as well as his production work with Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, and others. Lowe also wrote "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding", a hit for Costello and "I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock ’n’ Roll)", a hit for Rockpile bandmate Dave Edmunds.

He lives in Brentford, London, England.

RockerMike and Rob interview The Penetrators were founded by lead singer Jack Lipton and multi-instrumentalist Eliot (Spike) Kagan in Syracuse, NY in August, 1976. What happened when Garage Rock met Punk Rock in the cold climes of upstate NY? "Formed in 76 as punk was exploding, The Penetrators kicked out their own unique twisted version of garage rock... snotty, loud and amateur as can be." This duo of Syracuse music makers released their second 45 in 1979 ("Teenage Lifestyle/Rock 'n' Roll Face") to further critical acclaim and won a spot on Killed By Death #19 in 1998 for their efforts.

Originally intended as a studio project, Jack and Spike wasted no time putting together a live performing unit in 1980, whose efforts were captured on the soundboard bootleg cassette recording released in 2001 on Rave Up Records of Rome, Italy: "Live at Kenny's 1980."  Other 1979/1980 releases included the two-sided release of "The Scandalizer/Drive Me Crazy" by (respectively) Curtis Seals and Christian D'Orbit, and Eliot (Spike) Kagan's 4 track "solo" EP: "SPIKE!" 

In 1982, The Penetrators recorded and immortalized on video the classic track that MTV would not show on their Basement Tapes show: "Shopping Bag". All this musical productivity and hard work led to their studio efforts being released by Venus Records (FRED 0) on the album "Kings of Basement Rock" in 1988.  "Kings of Basement Rock" was subsequently reissued twice on two other labels - by Rave Up Records in 2000 and by Slovenly Records in 2013.  A CD anthology of their studio and live efforts, "Basement Anthology", was released by Swami Records in 2005. The initial 2 Penetrator 45 RPM record efforts have been re-released in EP form on Rave Up (1999) and as separate 45's on Windian Records (2011 and 2012 respectively).  The Curtis Seals / Christian D'Orbit 45 was re-released by Windian Records in 2014, along with their 45 RPM release of the Penetrators' classic "Shopping Bag" (backed by "Everybody Needs Lovin'").  Possible plans to reissue the "Spike!" solo EP by Penetrators multi-instrumentalist / producer Eliot (Spike) Kagan are still in the works. 

The Penetrators have also been performing at various punk festival gatherings over the last 20+ years, including the Horizontal Action (Chicago) Blackout 2003 ,the UFO Dictator Fest 4 (2008) ,and the 2012 Windian Anniversary Showcase in Washington, DC The Penetrators never went away and continue to make fresh music even after 40+ years in the music business.  They even self-released a CD on their own FRED Records called “Legacy” in 2017, and they are always making sure to maintain a social media footprint commensurate with their place in rock ‘n’ roll history.

RockerMike and Rob Presents: Roxanne Fontana

Roxanne Fontana (born Roseann Fontana 2 September 1959) is a dual-national Italian American author, singer, songwriter, musician, recording artist, poet, actress, and clothing and jewelry designer. Fontana was born in Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. Her parents were working class Italian-Americans from Brooklyn's Bedford Stuyvesant slums. Fontana spent her childhood in the 1960s a few blocks from the childhood home of writer Arthur Miller, in the predominantly Italian and Jewish neighbourhood of the part of Brooklyn bordering Midwood and Bensonhurst. It was here in 1968 that she developed an interest in fashion design after a child modelling try-out in a Lexington Avenue agency in New York City. Fontana developed her songwriting, guitar playing, singing and journal writing, living in Elmont, Long Island, US, during the 1970s. An avid music fanatic, Fontana ran an international fan club for Rolling Stone Brian Jones, which was officially recognized by the Rolling Stones, in the mid- to late 1970s.

Billion Dollar Babies is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alice Cooper, released on February 25, 1973 by Warner Bros. Records.The album became the best selling Alice Cooper record at the time of its release, hit number one on the album charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and went on to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album has been retrospectively praised by such critics as Robert Christgau, Greg Prato of AllMusic, and Jason Thompson of PopMatters, but The Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004) gave the album only two and a half stars.

Songs were recorded in both the state of Connecticut and London, England. Lyrics cover topics and themes such as necrophilia, dental fear, horror, and sexual harassment. At 40 minutes and 51 seconds, it is the longest studio album the band has ever released; this does not count any of Cooper’s solo albums.

Amoeba Teen were founded by critically acclaimed songwriting team of Mark Britton and Mike Turner. Armed with a four-track tape recorder and junk shop guitars, the pair began writing together back in the dying embers of the last century.

Classic guitar pop disciples, Amoeba Teen, regenerate the genre of melodic songwriting, lush harmonies and chiming guitars.

Early success stalled, but the attention of radio and music journalists and the support from a core of determined fans who sought Amoeba Teen out one by one, convinced the band to push on with refining their craft.
