She discusses how as she gets older, greyer, more wrinkly and rounder she has also become wiser. There seems to be a connection between age and wisdom and with an increase in years this impacts on how she is in the world and how she explores and sets and communicates her boundaries, wishes, ideas and much more.

Ultimately, Sally says that see sees the invisibility of the silver haired generation as a benefit. As she becomes invisible to others she becomes more visible to herself and experiences greater power and strength in the process, and this is something she never had when she was younger.

Her experience is echoed by famous silver haired women in the public eye – all of whom seem to celebrate a freedom that comes with getting older and no longer having to conform to the social constructs set up to define women.
