The biggest switch was not a number on the scale. It was figuring out who I was after I stopped chasing one.
I lost 110 pounds on a GLP-1. Everybody wants the before-and-after picture, and I’ve got one. It’s a good one. But the interesting part of my story started the morning the scale came up the same number as the day before and, for the first time in two and a half years, I felt nothing about it.
This is the first episode of The After, the part of the story nobody talks about: what happens when the number stops moving and you’re standing in your kitchen going, okay. Now what?
In this one: why losing is loud and maintaining is silent. The two non-negotiables I kept the whole way through (one’s sweet, the other’s sweeter). What happened to the planner in me when the math in my head finally went quiet. And the question people ask now that isn’t a compliment anymore: “Wait, you’re still on it?”
Pull up a chair and sit a spell. There’s plenty of room.
Getting Quiet is my love letter to everybody on a GLP-1 who’s getting a little quieter too, and to whoever else wandered in.
