Halloween Kind of Fun
This was quite a satisfying collection of short form horror stories. While some were truly horrifying, others were a nice mix of horror and comedy. I don't think these stories are too scary for kids or not scary enough for adults - to me, they can be enjoyed by anyone to likes a good spooky story!

Solid spooky tales, perfect for any campfire
As others have mentioned, the tales here are a bit more juvenile in nature than something from a King or Koontz, but for me that was part of the charm. Though the stories got progressively mature, sometimes it's the simplest of stories that are the scariest, and I can honestly say that in their own ways, a few of these creeped me out.
Like stories kids tend to tell each other, many of these (especially the titular tale) read like urban legend meant to curb certain behaviors. Because of this, our stories rarely have happy endings. This added to the creep out factor of some of the more haunting or gross tales, but it did start to color the experience for me. Hard to be fully immersed or root for a character when you've seen how things tend to end time and time again.
The narrator did a good job. He had a bit of an overly creepy tone at times, but given the subject matter and intended(?) audience, it fit well.
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review. It's a tad on the short side for a credit, but for the content, I'd say it's worth while.
A Halloween Treat for our Family
Gene Blake, with his un-oiled door hinge growl of a voice, was the perfect narrator for this short collection of scary stories for children. The first (burnt) offering, Skeleton in the Closet, is still spoken of in whispers at our house, weeks after Halloween has passed. For some reason, quality 'scary stories' for kids are hard to find, so I would recommend adding this one to your library, even if you are a very old, very big kid.
