Baby Wordplay (00:01)

Welcome to Toddler Phonics. I'm so happy you're here.

Baby Wordplay (00:09)

Hi, I'm Miss Pam, children's librarian, trained teacher, and founder of Baby Wordplay, a family business I run with my daughter and son-in-law.

I created Toddler phonics to help you build the foundational reading and math skills that are essential for all further learning.

Baby Wordplay (01:11)

Let's say hello to our guest.

Baby Wordplay (01:18)

Fold your lips into your mouth and say mmm.

/m. Don't open your lips. /m/

Baby Wordplay (01:32)

Hello, mm, so nice to hear you. Mm, as in mop. Mm, as in mole. Hmm, as in moon.

Hello, mm, so nice to hear you. Hello, mm, so nice

to hear

Baby Wordplay (02:05)

Mm as in monkey.

Baby Wordplay (02:09)

Monkey and me. Monkey and me. Monkey and me. We went to see. We went to see some cats. Miaow

Monkey and me. Monkey and me. Monkey and me. We went to see some horses. Neigh.

Monkey and me. Monkey and me. Monkey and me.

We went to see. We went to see some butterflies.

Monkey and me, monkey and me, monkey and me

we went to see, we went to see some monkeys.

Baby Wordplay (03:14)

Let me hear you say, 'my'

Here are my hands. Your turn.

Baby Wordplay (03:26)

This book is called Here Are My Hands by Bill Martin Jr.

Follow the words with some actions.

Here are my hands for catching and throwing. Pretend you're throwing a ball.

Here are my feet for stopping and going.

Here is my head for thinking and knowing.

Here is my nose for smelling and blowing.

Here are my eyes for seeing and crying.

Here are my ears for washing and drying. Here are my knees for falling down.

Here is my neck for turning around.

Here are my teeth for chewing and brushing. Here is my elbow, my arm, and my chin.. And here is my skin that bundles me in.

Give yourself a hug. The end.

Baby Wordplay (05:22)

Get your mouth ready for mmm.

When monkeys get up in the morning they always say good day. When monkeys get up in the morning they always say good day. They say...

That is what they say that is what they say. When mice get up in the morning they always say good day. When mice get up in the morning they always say good day. Let me hear some mice. Squeak squeak.

When mama gets up in the morning she always says good day. When mama gets up in the morning she always says good day. She says, good morning my munchkin!

Let's practice words that begin with the ⁓ sound. You say after me,

mountain.

Maple.

Mango.

My

Me

Have you ever eaten a juicy mango?

Mangos can be delicious. In Jamaica, mango season is a very exciting time. Everyone drops what they're doing and they go out and pick mangoes off the tree. This song is called Mango Time.

Here are the words in Jamaican:

me no drink, coffee, tea -mango time.

No care how nice it may be, mango time.

At the height of the mango crop, when de fruit dem a ripe and drop, wash your pot, Tun them down, mango time.

This song is saying, I don't drink coffee or tea. I want mangoes! I don't care how nice coffee is or tea, mango time!

When the fruit is ripe and ready to drop. I'm going to wash my pot. No more cooking!

I'm going to go and pick mangoes. Sing with me. Me no drink coffee tea. Mango time. No care how nice it may be. Mango time.

the height of the mango crop when the fruit them are ripe and drop wash your pot turn them down mango time me no drink coffee tea mango time

No care how nice it may be.

mango time at the height of the mango crop when the fruit them are ripe and drop wash your

Pot, tun them down, mango time.
