Everything works better when its parts are put together in the right way, including us!
In this episode I explain what fragmentation is and why ideally it operates in a dynamic balance with integration.
After showing just how out of balance we are and discussing some of the large-scale problems we've created as a result, I focus on the corresponding troubles of also experiencing ourselves as fragmented and how we can move toward a more integrated sense of ourselves, as whole persons living whole lives.

Despite knowing a great deal about the human brain and nervous system, in some ways, human consciousness and thought remain mysterious. In other ways, we can observe our thoughts and some of their effects firsthand...but only if we're paying attention. In this episode, I discuss why it's so important that we do.
We begin to explore what thought is, why it's significant, and how something seemingly so immaterial can produce material results, in our bodies and in the world.

If you have a big goal, a new practice you want to establish, something inside that wants to come out and be shared, but you're held back by not being able to do it perfectly or all at once, this episode is for you.
In it, I explain some of the reasons we have a hard time taking action, and especially why we can be so resistant to doing something that's less than everything. I share strategies for getting past this obstacle and highlight why it's so important that we do.

Technically, we're all changemakers, in that everything we do impacts the world in and around us. But as humans, we have the capacity to be more deliberate and intentional about the kinds of changes we make and how we make them. We can also develop skills that allow us to deal more gracefully with the challenges that come with making certain kinds of change. This episode explains all that to support you in your changemaking work -- to help you do it more effectively and with greater ease.

I describe this podcast as a form of 'collective self-help.' In this episode, I explain what that means and why it's exactly the kind of help we need.
The self-help industry has been steadily growing for decades. Some love it and can't get enough, while others are critical of its purveyors and the movement at large. The real situation, I argue, is much more interesting than the usual good/bad, helpful/not helpful frame would suggest.
There's much to be skeptical of in the realm of self-help. There's also good help to be found there and good reasons why people today need help more than ever. I discuss some practical ways we can use the best of what self-help has to offer while multiplying its benefits for the good of all—ourselves and the collective.

Do you ever have times when it feels impossible to do whatever it is you're supposed to do next? When you think you just can't show up? In this episode, I describe a simple practice you can use to keep from being pulled into the downward spiral in moments like that. I also explore this practice within the larger contexts of culture, society, and biology and discuss where it fits in the bigger picture of long-term social change.

In this debut episode, you'll hear about how our distorted views are at the root of the widespread dis-ease we feel and the troubles we humans create for ourselves and others.
Weaving together eclectic threads, I explain why a clearer and more accurate picture is part of the essential equipment we need to be able to deal with our current crises and make positive changes, in our own lives and in the wider world.
And in the interest of also getting to know your host, you'll learn a bit about me and how I approach this endless, and endlessly fascinating, inquiry.
