President & Founder, ABS Community Research (est. 2001)
Velma Anne Ruth, M.Ed. is President & Founder of ABS Community Research, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 2001 supporting research, development, and administration for advancements and partnerships in health and human services, education, labor, and criminal justice.
Volunteer initiatives and charitable consulting have provided support to NGOs, humanitarian programs, professional associations, village associations, faith-based groups, public partnerships, coalition development, and independent media. ABS has supported a range of beneficiaries including U.S. Veteran organizations, African American religious and historical organizations, health and agricultural initiatives in multiple Latin American, Caribbean, African, and Asian nations, human rights and security in the Middle East, plus United Nations affiliated projects such as UNICEF USA, Universal Peace Federation, and Women’s UN Report Network.
In 2013, UN Economic & Social Council affiliate Universal Peace Federation appointed Velma an Ambassador for Peace, which is a certificate of advocacy-related diplomatic status to the United Nations awarded to selected government officials, diplomats, business leaders, philanthropists, and activists.
Velma has worked closely with federal institutions and consultants, involving the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Congress, and other U.S. Federal agencies. Velma has also worked with compatriot Ministries of Foreign governments and respective Diplomats.
Through ABS, Velma collaborated with UN organizations and related U.S. Federal and nonprofit institutions on “Global H Codes (GHC).” GHC is a classification system she founded for advancing administrative, accounting and information technology systems to support the $7+ trillion U.S. nonprofit sector, and $15+ trillion estimated global nonprofit sector, including partnerships, compliance, and other intersections of government and corporate sectors.
Velma has a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies in Psychology and the Visual & Performing Arts, and a Masters of Education in Psychology with Criminal Justice focus. Velma received training in finance through internal platforms and specialized projects under private C-Suite advisory at a major global investment bank. Velma is currently based in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
